Hello

It's becoming a big problem for me.

some users wanna download whole my shared content.

no problem if they are highspeed.

but some of them try to download from me at 4 or 5 KB/s.

is there any way to ignore somebody from downloading from me?

I haven't patience!!!

I have 1 slot and when i see other users

are waiting to download from me i really

want to give them slot so i block slow users

to make that one slot free for others.

i don't make my client busy with opening many upload slots.

i share alot and many users download from me.

Iranmaster: go away from DC network, it's not for you.

Actually vice-versa, but will sound abusive :)

I use dc and i have enough patience for those who really wanna download what they need.

Some users download whole your shared files. this makes me crazy and i block them.

Also i block slow users because i think a fast connection is not so expensive in any country.

I cant see some one is downloading a 800MB movie from me with a 56k dialup connection

and another user is waiting for a simple mp3 download.

i block slow users and i think i'm right.

wdc likes this

No, you are not right. I think you should leave DC world, because you don't understand its purpose.

This is exactly why IPGuard should be removed. Users like this using it to kill DC :)

I did my best to prevent abuse of this feature, however preventing it completely is not possible...

At present users are not allowed to block a single ip, plus they can't block all ip's either... and in addition when ip range is blocked it should not affect connections that have already been made. Then of course there is the fact that when ip range is blocked all new connections to it are blocked this includes naturally all incoming and outgoing traffic (so hub connections to and downloads from that range are not allowed either). I personally do not know if this is enough safety measures, but fir some reason unknown to me I really don't want to remove this feature... perhaps because doing so would encourage many users to switch clients into a far worse ones when it comes to features that are harmful to the network.

Well the intension of IPGuard was good but its more used for bad intent then good.

Yeh, I think a simple poll in here crise would show that the majority of 'legit' users dont use the feature at all.

I preferred PG-Plug tbh.

I would do it as a plugin myself as well, the problem is that doing it as a plugin would force me to remove many checks that exist to prevent abuse.

Cool, I know there where valid reasons for it's removal in first place. Can it be introduced via API in anyway crise?

And that is why I ban these kind of leechers in my hub who have a hub ratio of 20 hubs and 1 open slot (that is all in all, not 1 per hub...).
