  1. I am using Apex DC++ in a college network. My problem is I cant access any other user's file-list in active mode (it shows "connecting" which results in connection time out) , while in passive mode i can access other active users but not the passive user. So what should i do to access passive users?

Ask the hub admin if there is a guide to setting up the connection ready to use on the LAN. :)

  2. I am trying to setup a hub, a private one. I have ADCH++ GUI, and I have no idea how to set it up. The online documentation is not helpful at all, and I don't know what to do. Please, someone, help me with this. I've tried setting it up the best as I can using whatever information I could find online, and I can't get it to work. i don't even know if the ADCH isn't working or if it's Apex, since I can't tell what I am doing wrong.

You have checked out both these guides available on the website? I suggest you head over to the DCDev hub and ask somebody to help you there. This should be the link:

  3. Hi, for some reason I either can't remember or the password for my hub does not work, However I can't use it with out the password.

Does anyone know how to reset the password or get it back.

    Thanks

    Hello,

I have moved this to the support forum for you. Did you have the hub set as favourites? You could try extracting the password from favourites.xml and see if that is the one you're using. You'll need to contact a user on the hub or the hub operator so they can reset your password for you. Is it a private hub?

  4. Hello,

I have the same problem here. Why am I forced to upgrade whenever the new version is out? After all it's the hub owner's business what the users use or not, no?

Sometimes I just don't have the time to do it exactly at that moment, so I'd like to postpone it :D

Maybe you will consider this matter :)

    Thanks!

    Hi,

We don't force normal updates but when it effects the core functionality of the program or security, we do so. :)

  5. I'd hate to have to bump such an old topic, but this is really a big issue i have as well. I upload, alot. Thats basically all i do all day is serve files in numerous hubs. I sometimes have as many as 5 connections from 1 person... Its not fair to others who have to wait in line. This is a feature that really should be initiated. Any word on this even still?

It's possible with ADC hubs because every user has a CID.

  6. Hey guys, even after unchecking the 'dnt begin new segment if speed exceeds". i still cant download from multiple users and it still shows All download slots taken, when i can connect to those users as they have upload slots open

Have you got the maximum simultaneous downloads/files set correctly?

  7. Hello

I want to reinstall the OS, but before I want to save the Queue, the User and hub list.

Please help me and tell what files I must save from Program files/Apex and replace after re-installation of new OS, so the Queue, User and Hub list will remain the same like before new OS installation.

I have to mention that I use windows 7, and my Apex version is 1.4.3

    Thank you very much

    Regards

Do you have dcppboot.xml in your Program Files/ApexDC++ folder?

If you don't, compress this folder but remove dcplusplus.xml (so it generates a new one when launched).

  8. I can assure you ApexDC++ is still working. What is not working properly is your internet connection, so check your firewall and ask your internet service provider if they are not blocking anything.

Or if the router has stopped allowing that TCP port. :)

  9. Where can I find this file exceptioninfo.txt in the internet?

    P.S. Thanks for the help.

When ApexDC++ crashes, it usually creates an exceptioninfo.txt in Program Files/ApexDC++ directory. If you can't locate it, try searching your computer for the file.

  10. Problem! Apex 1.4.3 When I try to download a large file (for example more than 1 gigabyte), it shuts down. Reinstalling the program, installing version 1.4.2 and 1.4.1, installing the latest geoip database does not give me any positive results. I do not know why, but lost geoip database in the setup file is preticipased. In my computer, no viruses. What are some opinions from you?

Hi Bjoerndalen, just seen your message on the TGO hub. Have you got enough free space on your hard drive? Does it generate an exceptioninfo.txt in the ApexDC++ directory?

  11. We have successfully moved to a new server located in Europe. It provides us with a dedicated 100mbit uplink to the data centre, more powerful processor and better response times. We are using Nginx alongside a few other tools to increase page loading performance and provide better stability under our peak times.

Please let us know if you have any feedback or issues while browsing the site or forums.

  12. We have released 1.4.3 to the public just in time to celebrate our 8 million downloads milestone. There are some critical security fixes in this version when using hide share or Browse Filelist features. As such, we feel this is important enough to prompt all existing users to upgrade. If you've been experiencing issues getting filelists or downloading folders, we recommend you upgrade to 1.4.3.

Thanks for all the reports. :)

    Download: ApexDC++ 1.4.3

  13. We have updated our DNS records ready for a new server move later next month. Please be patient while the DNS change reaches your ISP and finds apexdc.net again.

We are building a new server that has more horsepower and is closer to the majority of our userbase. Instead of using standardised server technology (apache for one), we are investing time in the latest technology to power our server. This should provide you with faster loading times when browsing our front page and forums. We will provide more details closer to the server move.

Let us know if you can see us in our forums. :D

  14. How do i run several instances with 1.42? (i upgraded from an earlier version of apexdc) Should I choose "store settings per user" on install? I did that, but now all instances share settings, which i don't want them to do. I tried configuring dcppboot to localmode=1 and <ConfigPath>[apexdc-path]\Settings</ConfigPath>, but when i did that, it just reverted back to default-settings, instead of using the old ones stored in the settings-folder. (from the old install).

I'm sure that this is pretty easy, but i am a newbie with this (even though i did manage to do it in the 1.3.x-versions) , so any help would be appreciated.

    Hey,

Just delete dcppboot.xml and it won't store the settings in AppData. That way you can run multiple instances. :)

  15. Ok well bear with me here, I got to lans where we use dc and there are at times over 300 people waiting to get stuff off me. I usually have an away message simply stating that there is alot of people waiting and to be patient. But I was wondering if it's possible with my away message to make it output something like this:

Hi, all [amount of upload slots] are currently in use, you're [place in queue] out of [Size of queue] please be patient and wait.

or something like that? is it possible if so how?

I'd say welcome to the forums since this is your first post, but you registered two years ago. ;)

  16. Very good suggestion, however, it is going to need some planning... security etc.

Security as in anybody with the referral link could land on that page and see sensitive information? There could be a simple guide that explains how to connect to the hub and what to do once they are in the hub. We could allow the hub owners to specify a referral site that we accept this request from, and all other requests point to our generic download page.

I believe the hub owners should make the decision on how much information is displayed on the download page. Also, they could specify a password or code for the user to enter upon reaching the page. Taking it to the next level - allow the hub owners to change this information on the fly, without us needing to manually do it.

  17. What does "System default" hub encoding mean?

It means that on NMDC hubs you use your OS system default charset encoding. However, the ADC protocol allows the hub to utilise UTF-8 charset encoding. This is a real advantage for languages that require UTF-8 (Eastern European mostly).

You don't need to do anything with this option. :) It is there for when your system's default locale is not correct for a hub. For example, if you're visiting a Russian hub and you have American or English system you will need to change this to Russia - otherwise text won't appear correct.
