  1. Some requests of a .PDC fan

Hehe, I we'll just have to wait. Hopefully Crise will get some of these features implemented in future versions, there is always plenty of stuff for him to do though.
  2. Notepad Auto Scroll

Personally I just put new stuff at the top too, but if this is easy to put in then I wouldn't have anything aginst it, I guess I don't put the new stuff at the top by choice, just because there is no autoscroll. An option for this wouldn't be a bad thing.
  3. Another one.

It's fine as it is, just press Ctrl+Up, the only problem here is users do not know about Ctrl+Up. :)
  4. Yes, if those other 300 odd users are passive, you will be unable to upload to download to or from them, unfortunatly. Some of them may have no slots or have there srettings incorrectly entered etc too, or be limiting or whatever to such a slow speed that Apex disconnects them, but it still seems strange that you can't connect to more users.
  5. [Crash][0.2.0]

Shouldn't really need to be in red, but they put [crash] at the beginning so they obviously made some sort of effort so no worries. Please try to provide us with a little more information Zen. :)
  6. [Crash] ApexDC++ does not work in WINE.

WINE is like using another version of Windows. Apex doesn;t support every version of Windows anyway, so it can't support WINE that well either. As was stated maybe waiting for the Linux client would be the best option, or using a different DC++ based client. I'm sorry that we can;t fofer anything better, but we would rather invest any linux related time into getting a seperate client which will work without problems on Linux, rather than trying to change the existing version to work in WINE. we just don't have the resources to make Apex work with WINE (if it's easily possible). Our main coder has plenty of things to jsut advancing the client anyway. If you can invest time into making it work with WINE we would have no problems with that, but we are unable to do it ourselves, especially seeing as we have a seperate client for Linux planned anyway. Sorry I can't be of more use, Greg
  7. [Crash] Caused by /winamp

I'd be happy to just blame foo_winamp_spam . Maybe Crise will make some sense of it though when he is back. :)
  8. Fake Version or what

It is indeed a version of the client which exists for testing purposes and will lead to the next version of the client.
  9. Linux version?

Hehe, I would have no problems with it working on FreeBSD, but if we don;/t use it, it may be hard to make sure it does and/or try it. Also, we wouldn;t want to sacrifice any features or whatever to give support for FreeBSD I don't think. If it works on FreeBSD, great... if not, maybe give us a hand to get it working? :)
  10. some people like old dc

The only reason not to upgrade (that I can see - correct me if you see others) is because you are using an OP client which is based on an older version of DC. If this is the case then maybe OPs arn't subject to the same restrictions on a hub as other users, but OP clients do not need to be used on hubs where you are not an OP. There is a reason why the old clients are disallowed, it's not just some random thing that we decided to implement into the client. Any hub which deliberatly bans newer clients and forces you to use old clients probably isn;t worth connecting to. DC needs to evolve and improve, not just stay the same forever, if you honestly believe there are no advances needed then surely you wouldn't even download ApexDC? People who won't upgrade deliberatly are stupid? I doubt there are any old clients (other than an OP client or two maybe) which are so great you can't upgrade? I see no reason why people shouldn;t be told to upgrade, if they are forced to upgrade then good. Hopefully the client they are using will actually be better anyway? :)
  11. As previously suggested, configure your slow download disconnecting settings. This will disconnect the 10KB/s users ad go for the nes with a whole 30KB/s. I understand your situation, but why can't the users just change the amount of slots they have or whatever, you shouldn't have to use everyones slots. As also stated, if you download from 100 people it would be slower than 10 who just had 10 times more upload probably, because that number of connections will have a negative effect. 10 is way more than enough for my 4mbit connection, but I can see where you are coming from. There's always the possiblity that the number of connections you can have will be revised in future (after all, internet connections are still improving etc.) but I highly doubt that it will ever be unlimited.
  12. How evil are you?

Or you're just evil. But yeah, some of it isn't really that evil as such.
  13. Im leaving whole DC for while

Sorted. Anyway, they really are good, hopefully it'll encourage more people to create some toolbar icons too. Or at least get more users to use Apex. :)
  14. Im leaving whole DC for while

Excellent Northwind, Thanks for your contribution to Apex, they look very good - very professional. Hoperfully they'll be the default icons for the client? Well, I don't know but we'll see, I'm sure they'll get plenty of use. On the other hand, it is very sad to hear that you are leaving DC for the time being, although I'm glad to here that will be trying to visit the forums and remain part of the community though. Thanks for Testing ApexDC++ please try and get on every few months and do tell us if/when you ever have enough spare time for DC again. Thanks again, Greg EDIT: Been using them a while now, absolutely love them Northwind, good job.
  15. Linux version?

Unfortunatly Linux is missing out a lot on the application side of things, and seeing as I've even replaced the shell and file manager within Windows which make it very useful.... I'm willing to say with Windows for the moment. Linux is great, but I jsut can't use it due to the lack of applications. For someone which uses Winamp or WMP, explorer (default) shell, and explorer as a filemanangers, it may be fine. Yet, I want foobar2000 (although amaroK wasn't bad - just lacked some stuff I need), Directory Opus the filemanagers for Linux are often more advanced than explorer.... but not dopus, and blackbox (fluxbox is missing bbinterface and tcl4bb). Directory Opus was around on the amiga, they've been doing filemanagers for a long time and incluided (virtually) every feature you could want... this just isn't available yet. So for me, I don't see using Windows programs in Linux as a bad thing, it's only the core of Windows I dislike, the whole methodology that goes with it... it's insecure etc., but I try to strip out anything in Windows which isn't good enough, provided there is better. I do see your point though, and I would like to see a decent DC client that supported Linux natively and not via WINE.
  16. Why make a client that destroys DC++?

We don't hide the limits from people, and there are restrictions upon it to stop it being used to help "leech". As for multisourcing.. it depends. If you really think that it's destroying DC then I have to say that's jsut stupid.... look how partial sharing has been developed to be used in turn with multisourcing, you can't possibly say partial sharing is a back feature which kills DC. In fact, I believe you don't have a choice about partial sharing within the client, I think (not sure) that youhave to share/upload your partial files. Even a brand new person to computors with a 0 byte share can start sharing and giving back to DC as soon as they start a download. If you want to tell everyone you know to ban this client, well, be balanced about it first. Send them to this thread where you don't actually suggest how we can improve the client, and direct them to this post in particular so they can see other people's points of view. If you still have any other problems with the client and/or my post (and others) havn't satisified your current problems, feel free to say so... If you come here and start telling us that we're ruining DC, and generally take the attitude you are, don't expect us to be all that nice, it's jsut human nature to be defensive. If you came here with a reasoned point of view and explain your problems and allowed us to understand what they are and why they are a problem we may be more willing to listen and try and sort out any problems you might have. I think you will also have to face the fact that DC has changed since it began. When it was single-source filesharing everyone must have been using 56k dial-up connections, since then the internet has changed, the connections we use have changed.... the hub owners, OPs, and DC users have changed. You talk about us ruining DC, well.... it's not the same DC it once was, it needs to advance, otherwise it will be left behind. If you want us to change and try and to help the DC community then plese, try to be constructive. Do not simply come here to tell us that you are going to ban the client everywhere, it's because of stupid acts like that, that clients similar to ApexDC++ are banned... people telling others what to do, when did making up your own mind become such a bad thing?
  17. Hub Flooders

The anti-flood settings you seem to be talking about, are one users sending many message within a certain period of time? What was being suggested was that you go "semi-private", basically people can;t make messages in main chat, or send PMs to other users without being registered.
  18. What's the latest film you watched?

CIty of Rott (2006) [iMDb] Painful. That is the word I would use to sum up my feelings whilest watching this film. Watching the film for more of an edurance test than entertainment. I mean, there were some acceptable ideas in there and one or two phrases that made me laugh... but there was so many annoying things about that film it's not even funny. I mean for one, it was the same damn guy doing the voices for the whole damn film (and everything else b y the way). Now for one man to produce this it not a terrible achievement, but I don't don't think when one person produces every aspect of an animation it's not going to turn out good. (They'd have to be truely awesome.) (As for Clerks II which was mentioned.... excellent, watch. As for Take the Lead.... worth the watch probably, there's plot holes and stuff in it, but it's some decent entertainment for a while.)
  19. New PM icon

I'll make a range of different icons, of different colours, and see how they look. As for the letter thing, I don't like it as much, and a semi-transparent overlay of the letter over the icon.... this was tried.
  20. peerweb dc++

    Alright, good.
  21. Some requests of a .PDC fan

Sound good..... now I'm curious. :D
  22. user icon flags like old Xion++ had...

Maybe put a link in to speed testers or whatever in, although couldn't you just set the default speed to not actually be a speed? ....as in jsut be "---" or "Upload Speed" or whatever, not an actually value, so it that it would show up as a seperate colour in the userlsit, and only people that set the speed (and therefore hopefully know what they're doing) will be the ones you look at. If this is the c ase n ow then I don't see why you;d have a problem with that, so I guess it isn't. That probably make little sense anyway, Greg
  23. /c command not working

Now release a bug fix version, lol.
  24. user icon flags like old Xion++ had...

Heh, well the way of displaying your connection type is the old way, we encourage you to use the new way, as other users generally just care about your upload speed. The old way is still left in if people would like to use it though.
  25. Sort Tabs

You should have alook for the Tree layout I requested instead of tabs, it involved the client putting all PM (and chat rooms) as leaves under the name of the appropriate hub, hwoever, apparently there is some limitations in the clients which made it too hard to be worth it. I would assume the same is therefore the case here.
