This is not the official ApexDC++ version. ;)

  2. Thank you Sarevok, I will keep the names, I hope there is no problem if they are with small letters like nerdcore, peerweb, skype and radox because Linux is case sensitive.

Just to confirm (yes, might be a little late). Sarevok created the PeerWeb images only, and you should contact other authors before changing the pack.

  3. How about setting up the manual part in my router?

Single Port or Port Range Forwarding? Since apexdc++ has port fields for TCP, UDP Port, TLS/TCP, DHT/UDP. Should I have a seperate entry in the router for all the different Port fields?

Yes, forward each port separately and you should be good to go. ;)

  4. ADCPortal have started their annual voting of the ADC Client Application 2010. ApexDC++ has been nominated due to adopting the ADC protocol (Advanced Direct Connect) and utilising features such as transfer encryption - providing more security for your DC++ habits.

Voting is registration only, but it only takes a minute! Use this page to help you out with the registration questions. :)

    VOTE NOW!

Drop by our forums and let us know you supported us. :)

  5. How to enable encryption in ApexDC++

One of the main advantages of the ADC protocol is that it allows users to transfer and chat in an encrypted environment. This guide will show you how easy it is to enable encryption in ApexDC++.

Forward the TLS port in your router

Just like another TCP port, you will need to forward the TLS port in connection settings:

Go to File > Settings and scroll down to Advanced. Click on Security and mimic this window:

Make sure all three checkboxes are enabled. As of 1.3.8, these are enabled by default:

    1. Use TLS when remote client supports it
    2. Allow TLS connections to hub without trusted certificate
    3. Allow TLS connections to client without trusted certificate

    Connect to an ADCS hub

You can only achieve encrypted transfers when you connect to a hub that supports it. ADCS:// are hubs that support the encryption protocol, so search your hublist window for such hubs.

  6. OMG why there is no option to sort files by extension in download queue??? :-(((( Shouldn't be there automaticly? Like we have there some absurd colums like path, priority etc. by which you can sor files but no "file extension"??? unbelievable...and sad. except this AphexDC++ is absolutly the best client I ever saw - just improve this nonsense in the queue list...thanx in advance.

Wait for 2.0 and remind us when it's in public testing. :)

  7. We have pushed a small update out to fix two issues found in previous versions. First is the introduction of a 60 second time interval for sending the amount of free slots in the user list. This should help hub admins find that spare bandwidth they need to reach out to more users. The second fix is the detection of magnet links when they contain bitprints, which are commonly found in G2 magnets.

Our next major version, 2.0, is on the horizon. We have successfully compiled debug builds to run on Ubuntu, FreeBSD and will be looking to extend that to Mac OS X eventually. We will provide screenshots at some point and then open up a limited beta period for testing. We are still looking for talented icon and graphics designers so get in touch with us if you know somebody.

    Enjoy the snow! :)

  8. Hi guys, I am new to using ApexDC++. After connecting to about over a 100 servers or so my client keeps lagging out and freezing up. Is this a common problem and can it be fixed?

You don't need to connect to 100 hubs, just make sure DHT is enabled and it'll help you find the files in your queue. ;)

  9. The connection test didn't work. But this is like it always was. Mayby it is because I'm sitting in Germany and not in America. The connection test also didn't work, when my port forwarding was properly set up.

Then it is not properly set up. ;)

  10. After I completly uninstalled Apex und reinstalled the Version 1.3.5 I can't connect to any User. I made the same settings as before, but now I could not connect I only can connect to the Hub, which runs on the same PC. But then it stops. I don't know what I've done wrong now. It's all set up like before and now nothing works. I don't understand this.

What does the connection test state?

  11. again not my fault that your not that in-tuned with development on direct connect but your sure giving me **** for your ignorance thats for sure.

Yeah, it's not his fault. But as the owner of ADCPortal, you should send people to it rather than scare them off. That attitude of yours does not help any of us - why not just forward them on politely to ADCPortal? That blog post was made 31/08/2009, you can't expect everyone to have read it and understand where to go for suggestions.

burek: interesting post but I would recommend posting it over at ADCPortal if Toast hasn't annoyed you too much.
