hmm i am using 1.36 .so should i upgrade to version 1.39 and see if it works or wait for release of a higher version ?
1.4.0 will be the next version. Try using Passive mode for the time being if you're not confident enough to forward ports. :)

a new user to apex dc ++ . i have shared 0 bytes . when i try to get the file list of any user it comes connecting and after some time it comes connection timeout
but if i havent shared anything then shouldn't a message appear ? while connecting
so will apex dc work ....im asking this question because say i shared 1gb and then came to know that i cant download from other users then what?
Hi imabcd,
You probably need to forward ports with your router in order for it to work then. Or you can try "Passive (worst case)" and see if you get a connection. The next version should help improve your experience if you're struggling though, because it shouldn't require you to do this. :)

There is no installer without OpenCandy?
Nope, use the slim version to get the required files.
Creating installers with and without would be a pain on every release.

Hello!
Where can I find the english language file which contains all the lines? I want to begin to translate Finnish... for me personally.
Thank you!
If you're happy to upload your translation so others can use it, I will promote you to the translators group. You'll receive access to it in a separate forum.

I hate OpenCandy, every time Avira report nowadays... Where can I download the installer which is "OpenCandy" free?
It's available on the Sourceforge files section.

Hi, I'd like the option of a 'back' button when browsing someone's file list. Or an 'up folder' button. I realise I can use the folder tree in the left pane, but it's fiddly and I lose my place (annoying when I've reached the later part of the alphabet!). Thanks.
Noted...

Hi Lee
it was put into c;\ programmes my mistake thnks for your help
Hah cool. Do you run multiple instances of ApexDC? If not, you can put dcppboot.xml into your program files/apexdc folder and you'll save all the settings to AppData/ApexDC. This means you don't get any privilege errors.

Eset Nod32 did the same thing till they reported it. After updating the definitions they fixed their mistake.
We will be moving away from OpenCandy in our 1.4 update. :)

Hi
I am getting a fault where my files are hashing but never complete is the a way to remove hash file and start again just incase file is corrupt
Do you have permissions to write to the folder/file you've saved your settings to?

There are two options:
1. set passive mode in connection settings (but you probably don't want to do that)
2. forward your TCP and UDP (and TCP/TLS and UDP/DHT) ports on your new router to your PC. instructions at portforward.com or in the manual of your new router.
Just on a quick note, 1.4.0 should be much easier with the auto detect feature (using miniupnp). :)

hey mr project manager
they have this neat compression called 'zip'. whats great about that is most people can unzip any file that has a .zip extension.
but with the silly-ass compression extension you chose it's difficult to decompress.
i guess the plugins must be really large! thanks for saving us a few seconds in downoading...
louis
lou707,
WinZip is not open source and has worse compression performance than 7zip. That's not "neat".
We like to promote open source software here. :)

Rather than just remember files in share?I really miss this feature that, for example, emule has.
Would it be possible to implement it?

Problem solved , when I run DC as Administrator - everything is fine

i want to make a web page which has tth roots of some files and i want the user to be able to click on a link and then -
1) apex dc should open if it is not already open
2) dc should search automatically for that tth root file
3) and then automatically start downloading that file
please guide me in the right direction
it will be preferred if some can write down some part of the code
Hi gamish.
This functionality is already built into ApexDC++ using magnet links. You right click on the file in your filelist and Copy > Copy magnet link to clipboard. Paste this to people in PM's or on websites and whenever they click on the link, it will open ApexDC++ if they have it installed. :)

Dont want to make a new topic.
I reinstalled my PC win7+sp1. Did make a backup of Hashdata etc.
After the new installation of Apex I can't find the files anymore.
I see the installation, i have hashed some files, but there is no hash list.
Where is it ^^
It will be in the hidden User/AppData folder If you don't want it there, use Crise's method and delete dcppboot.xml from Apex folder.

Firstly, don't use ApexDC for breaking your country's laws. I will not give support to those activities and as such aren't interested in hiding IP's for people like that.
If a user is found sharing copyrighted content the RIAA can by all means take them to court in America if they own copyrights. If you're frightened about privacy, you can setup ApexDC with Tor or just stick to trusted private hubs. :)

Hello,
Prior to upgrading to 1.3.9 Apex would DL the entire directory and file contents creating a directory on my PC. Now, when I select DL entire directory Apex simply dumps the directory contents into the root directory of my specified DL location. How do I fix this?
Thanks,
Brandon
I use download whole directory quite often and never experienced this issue... anymore details on how to reproduce?

Just was wondering if you guys ever thought of coding an app for the iphone. I know they would be a huge market for it within the dc community.
Out of curiosity, what would you like to see in the app?

When you're in Passive mode, you usually cannot connect to other Passive users (represented by a brick next to their name in userlist) or users that have not forwarded their ports correctly. If you forward ports you don't worry about this. This is why you should always try and forward ports for your router. :)
