  1. i can have 2 gb, i actually have 3 gb of ram, but if i put in the last ram chip (4 gb) then the "windows" does not start, the POST runs fine, and it says it detects 4 gb of ram ...

the WINDOWS software is the thing that doesn't work if i put in all four chips, i read on wikipedia that all 32 bit software runs only with a max of 4 gb of ram, so i thought i could put four, but noooo...

  2. yeah i have tried, and if i remove one and put the extra one in, then it works :)

thing is that 32 bit windows only supports 4 gb ram, and using 4x1024 is 4096 and for some reason the system starts but when windows should load, nothing.........

i have one more 1 gb chip but the system doesnt start with it installed :)

    need unsigned driver install :(

    p.s. those are 667 mhz chips ddr2 :)

  4. i know about a VERY successful client that uses this kind of auto updating...

    Steam www.steampowered.com

Whenever there is an update, you get the option "Restart Now" or "Later" but if you do close steam, it updates when you start it next time anyways...

I find this VEERY convenient and i always click restart now :) (does not restart the computer, just the program :D)

Why don't you just contact Valve (steam gods) to ask for how exactly the auto updater works :)

[09. mars 2008 - 05:06:57] <Ljóni> Your direct connect client has supplied an invalid IP address in a connection request (client sent 128.2.223.63, you have 212.30.xxx.xxx)

apex is set to update the ip at every startup, but i also have a static ip address

  7. Hi,

I want to suggest an auto updater for ApexDC++

The "how" is simple (i think)

    1. Client checks every x hours/days for an update on apexdc server

    2. If an update is awalible, the user is prompted to update (by bubble popup or window popup)

    3. If user clicks Yes to the update, the update is downloaded, and auto installed

    4. Auto installer is downloaded and launched (requests elevation for vista)

    5. Auto Installer closes apexdc.exe

    6. Auto Installer updates all files that need updating

    7. Auto Installer relaunches apexdc.exe

    8. ApexDC runs

    9. Auto Installer auto closes :)

    10. ApexDC reports that an update was successful and the version now being run :)

Makes the thought of "updating" more fun :P

    What do you think ??
