  1. Only thing I noticed about this bug so far in Beta 3, that it happens more often (annoyingly often), than in the latest alpha. :(

yepp, it was also present in previous versions, as i can remember i've also opened a topic for this ...

and what i've found is that it only happens when connecting to many hubs ... for example to more than 10 ... never seen this problem when connectiong only to 7 or 8 hubs.

  2. hot weather = hot chicks half-naked :D

hehe, my last 2 weeks were exactly about this :P ... i came home, and found that it's even hotter here, than in southern spain .... and chick have even smaller clothes :D ... it's only that they are not that good lookin here :(

please everyone welcome hungary in the mediterranean counties group as a brand new member :)

  3. it would be better to have good antivirus

i don't know if Mikey is thinking about sg like in msn ... "check downloaded files with: xy antivirus" ... as yepp, this would be useful, but as you said ... everyone would still need a good antivirus for this :(

  4. actually i also rarely find anything on some hubs, but just simply leave them opened, as dc is about sharing .... as i've been on a hub 5 or more years ago, saved manymany money and time for myself during the years :) .... it's the minimum to leave it opened to "give it all back" .... but anyway, if noone downloads from you on those hubs, and you don't download anything from that ... it won't make much difference anyway, i guess you're not on a p2 with 128 mb ram

  5. /me vote no, coz me don't want situationes when useres are able to suppress chats and block all pms (next step) and becoming like unresponsive blockheads just taking space on userlist. :)

Not that I don't see the point in You're arguments... but DC is like P2P & irc-like network in 1. It wouldn't be half as popular if it would be just one of those. So dooon't change it!

i know what you're talking about, but ... main chat supress can actually be enabled in some (or way more :stuart: ) clients .... the point in this idea i guess is that there should be an option to set if i set for example supress to be enabled for all hubs, but can give an exception for some, like the ones i always wanna see, reed, reply ... so this would be a useful function :)

  6. I was wondering about the same as Mikey, how do these come together, and i can't get it either :)

but while my hyperfast internet connection let me the chance to wonder what could it be about (wondering for a whole minute :D ) .... i found that yes, it would be an interesting plugin to let PMs directed into Pidgin for example ... as usually the client runs minimized on my PC (to save some resources for winamp :P ) and i rarely see PMs ... okay, i know i can request bubbles saying that someone has sent me a PM, but those dissappeare after a while, or after clicking somewhere else ..... so it would be great if the PMs would be directed into a messenger like Pidgin from dc via a plugin, but i guess it doesn't worth the time and energy spent on a project like that ... .and i guess i'm right in this last part at least :crying:

  7. but still worth a try enablind dc in your firewall .. (on my home computer, when the security soft is turned off, connection automatically disconnects) .. but ... can you get the hublists? or that doesn't work either? how do other softs act? Apex is the only one stopped functioning? which version is it?

have you tried reinstalling it and not copy over the old xml files (except favorites & queue of course) but simply setting it up again, just as you've done for the first time installing it?

  8. hehe, no need to complain good old european mates  ... almost all days this week it was 35 C in India during the early hours ( 2-4 AM ) ... don't wanna know how hot is there during daytime

  9. hehe, i've choosen to go to work at around 6 or 7 every day, so at least it's not that hot then .... but it's 24-27 already in the early hours .... at least there's airconditioning at the workplace :stuart: ... a good way to keep ppl in working overtime during theese days ;)

  10. sometimes happened here too ... have you checked if the auto-priorization is set to enabled? ... cuz in that case sometimes it gives all files in the queue the 'lowest' prio, and because of that, none of them will start downloading, even if there are loads of sources with free slots

  11. Hmm, do i also to check "search for alternates" so it starts to download again?

also check the priorities of the files in the queue .... one time i found that even if there are available sources with open slots, download doesn't start, because the file's priority is set to lowest ... that could be another cause, as i guess ppl never check it, because "last time i ran dc the file was coming down, the prio has been set"

  12. Please excuse me if you already posted this issue ... I have an old Nvidia GeForce4 MX440 with AGP8x 64MB ...

I'm not so advanced at PC and my english knowlege is not verry good ... if I did something wrong please excuse me ...

i have the same videocard and the same problem too :) ... but as it doesn't really hurts my eyes, and always forgot to send the screenshot i haven'T mentioned this error, but relax, nothing is wrong with your vga cards ;)

  13. yes, so the string that looks like tth is cid there when getting someone's filelist .... but if you don't want it to work 100 times out of times, maybe enough 90 times out of 100 (it still keeps nettraffic and download time lower) to get at least two values which match, then don't download, but open the downloaded one ... for example ppl don't usually set different e-mail addresses on different hubs, but description and nick is usually different .... so what would happen if the client would check the filesize of the filelist and the mail address of the user ... and if both match with the one that has been downloaded before (okay, another sting would have to be added to the downloaded filelist containing the mail address of the user) ..... then simply opening the downloaded one .... would be an "almost solution" i think .... but you're the ones who know how clients work, so maybe finding another field which is always the same with a user (not depending on which hub she/he is on, and what description, emulation, nick she/he has) and store it with the downloaded filelist --> then check the filelist's size and that filed before downloading a filelist ... and if the size+"that thing" is the same then simply opening the already downloaded one.

don't know if that is understandable or not (as it was much easier to tell this in hungarian :( ), but that's sg like a trick ..

  14. i had this problem before too, but suddenly it "solved itself" or sg ... even opened a topic for it if i'm remmebering right...

so my suggestion would be that you use higher numbered ports (over 20.000) ... for example 25533 for tcp and 25534 for udp) .. use this settings in your router's portforwarding/virtual server settings, and set apex to be allowed to do anything or to be a "trusted application" in the firewall on your pc.

then check if the "network interface for all connections" shows your current inside ip address (the one you always get from your router (you can either set your connection settings to automatic on your pc and set in your router to give automatically always the same ip to your network card's MAc or by setting your local connection to a static ip, gateway mask, router ip and dns hosts ... but the other is more simple)

then if you say you have static ip (the outside ip) ... then maybe setting that to never update and put in your current outside ip manually ... and maybe restarting dc++ .... don't caring about what the test sais about your connection, but trying to download a filelist.

this one worked here :( ..... if you need any clarification on this, feel free to write a PM to me for example on the support hub and if i'm here, i'll help you in this [Apex-VIP]MiRaGe is the nick

  15. of course it would be really good, but doesn't it work if you put the hub's name in filter when checking the results?

sorry i haven't checked it, but that would be logical thinking with the client's brain

i'll try as soon as my client stops "not responding" ^_^

*checked and it is working if you want to check only one hub (or if the ones you wanna have check have a same string in their names which others don't

  16. btw .... if i donwload sg there is an option to automatically share it until i close dc client, right? .... so sg *like* it is already there .... so if i download sg from an 0-day hub, and i'm also on some opened hub, the ppl who are on that opened hub can also download the chunk that i've downloaded, right?

either way ... i think dc is the one for me ... at least it's sg i know how to use the best and can find almost anything that exists (and of course i'm interested in)

  17. i also like dc++ more, and don't believe it'll loose so many users because of torrents' advantages (or maybe it's a long time i checked torrents :) )

when torrenting ... unlimited uploads and unlimited downloads mean --> speed = x/unlimited --> sometimes near 0 (actually i learnad advanced mathematics for 3 years in university, but a 6 year old can tell the same :) )

getting a torrent file to be able to download some stuff is sometimes even harder then getting a reg to a special dc hub, and i believe rules are made for the users, not against the users :) (i wish even the users would believe this :) )

and finally (for at least now) clients with multisource (with unlimited or 100 or sg like that) download "kill" dc :D ... okay .... i'm on dc for several years (since napster became a paying stuff, okay... there was a little break in filesharing) .... and i've seen bearshare, torrent, soulseek, kazaa .... everytime ppl said "this is the next generation of filesharing" "the best" ... and don't know where are those now, but dc++ still rocks in p2p :)

so .... i don't think some fusion between dc and torrent is needed (and indeed there would be many incompatibilities)
