1. This sounds like it would be a strong DC issue as far as I know, though I do know BM does read these forums as well so perhaps he can help you. 2. This has been talked about in feature request already. Click here! Though it's not exactly the same, it's a fairly similar idea where your picking the source that you want to download from for sure. Though Apex is designed and does (most of the time) find the fastest source anyway...

Sweet though any chance Crise/Lee that there will be a minor update for this? not that I don't think it's a major thing, but here's a screen shot of it too EDIT:: Usually it uses around 5,000 or so doing normal activites :)

Sorry We responded I guess at the same time hehe. But yes that would be nice too I would agree :)

Right click on a peer to choose it as the only source.
bigcanuck replied to Ð.Sp!dér's topic in Feature Requests
That was what I was thinking, as I'm not sure it's possible any other way unless you have an option at the beginning of the transfer as well that makes it do that from the start. Because even if you allow the transfer to do it, say somehow change the size of the segment mid transfer it still has to reconnect at the end of the segment which it is then possible to loose a connection anyway I think. -
So I figured since it's that time somewhere I'd just say happy new years to all those folks and those to home it will get to before me. hehe Cheers ApexDev and people and Happy New Years!!!!!!!!!:woot:

Well.. wouldn't a small section say that goes when single source download is clicked go disconnect from all sources, set segment size to file size, force reconnect to designated user would that not just pick up from where the user left off? or am I just off my rocker? :S which is always possible. I realize the pseudo for it sounds easier then it probably is. But I'm just curious. Because since DC even with segmented downloading downloads everything in order from start to finish, and for safety you could always delete the last previous segment downloaded though I don't think that would matter or have the disconnect only happen after current segments are finished. Greg or anyone know where in the Apex code I would relative code to this? (That is besides Download Manager I'm assuming I will have to look at Strong DC code as well??) -

either that.. or would it be possible to set in an option say in the right click on a file menu as:: Download as a non-multisource download. I'm not sure that this is easy to do or whether this would actually would be a StrongDC option. It may well be because Strong is multisource that we cannot do it... but I would think that we could have maybe so that when you click that option it sets the segment size as the same size of the file therefore it downloads in a single segment not allowing then the possibility to loose his connection? This option may be useful to many other users with slow connections as well, that way if they know they get a good connection with someone in the future they can download from them in said maner. -
Very Wise Zlobomir. Sometimes I wander what's more destructive to ones personal life... PC + Drunk generally = a bad thing.. hehe.

I can say I know it's not the hub, as I've been using Apex since 0.2.0 on my own hub which is running the newest Ptokax soft. So that would make me think it's their script that is running. Perhaps try talking to the hub ops to see if they can take a look at the script one of them to fix it? as it doesn't take much for them to change teh script to allow for Apex tags, especially since default Ptokax recognizes the tag.

Merry Christmas All -20lbs turkey here (well at least I didnt buy it might be bigger... it's feeding 30 people apparently so it probally is bigger I guess) -got mom a shirt that she wanted aka sent my sister shopping -NO SNOW here *tear* but then I never get show here on the southern west coast of Can.
-
Hehe I suppose, but I'd rather it outside the on here,... I sadly have none (ps sorry for the off topicness)
-
Running FireFox 1 it also doesn't work correctly on higher defs (1280x800) Same Layout issue as mentioned above. However it "fixes itself if I maximize the window :S Seems to work ok in FF2. PS:: What's up with the falling snow??
-
Same issue here with FF2 so ya.. FF1 still works however.

The current function will find a correct match yes, as according to the Hash, thus find you all the files with an exact bit by bit match. Any of those files turned up by a TTH search can be added as a source.

Works fine for me, can you post the error log that apex generates it'd greatly help for others to be able to look. Otherwise this post doesn't help them much....
-
1st off your actual file list is only generated when someone makes a call for it, your hash data should be stored seperately. I'm assuming that you've closed and reopened Apex and seen if that's fixed as it should fix when you restart Apex if shutting down your comp for a minute and reboot to clear your RAM. Try those 1st they may give you a quick fix for it :)

Curious.. I often get a similar thing, however I know it is because I was accessing the file as the downloaded completed thus windows didn't allow apex to rename it or more it. I do this quite regular by streaming it through Video Lan Client (found there www.videolan.org I'm able to do this with DC mainly because of my campus lan connection. However both those errors due occur predictably to me in that instance, so my thought is perhaps you have another file accessing it before and during the download completion. Perhaps even it's apex in some way I'm not sure, others here can answer that. However from what you told me is the exact situation that I have minus I know that I was accessing the file... where you in anyway doing that?

Well Let me say welcome back, I had heard that you've had stopped there and well as far as I know Linux Dev sorta stopped shortly after, pm Baldar I believe he was semi working on it/ might be willing to give you a hand though I shouldn't speak for him :blushing: but you never know hehe Can't say I know much about porting, and my knowelege at linux is more or less a newbs knoweledge, but I have some coding practice and am trying to learn C/C++ at most I might be able to trouble shoot bugs hehe. Anyways Welcome back and I wish you luck at finding people I'm sure Crise and Lee will be excited to hear you're back.

Terminating downloads from people using oDC-based clients
bigcanuck replied to Ð.Sp!dér's topic in Feature Requests
Look at it this way they will be eventually forced to upgrade to a newer client whether they want to or not, this is just a transition period for computers because of one the new OS coming out for PC's etc, it's also a new transition for DC so things will eventually change and eventually these people will be not able to get on hubs at all (minus select private ones) not because they are leechers though, but because they are obsolete. Let's just hope that when they do upgrade they see the advantages of Apex and choose it as their next client that will last a long time :blushing: -
Remote client does not fully support TTH - cannot download
bigcanuck replied to к¢kMåñ's topic in Support
You know This argument has come up before. http://forums.apexdc.net/index.php?showtopic=957# and I made this argument and it's still valid here. You cannot continue support forever, and at some point you have to make the jump. Maybe currently there are some clients out there that are not compatible, however and I think the Apex Dev team will agree with me on this maybe, Apex is being built to last and not to mention it is for all intents and purposes still in beta. And by the time they hit Version, 1.0.0 The computing world will have changed again. Vista is coming out in Jan, and the majority of computer users will once again be upgrading just a little bit more, maybe not right to vista, but to new computers that can not only install Apex and run but can install other similar newer clients, which Apex will support. The old clients will die out, for all but a handful of users, I'm not saying that we should be at the same time punish these few users, but eventually even they will upgrade. How many of us get slightly annoyed when we download a 700mb file or bigger only to find out it was corrupted? With TTH we can avoid that, and personnally I believe it is the right decision to move away from these clients, and it had to start somewhere so why not here with one of the newest and better clients out there? -
Exactly which is why I've also changed my hubs main suggested client to Apex as well even though it doesn't matter too much due to our University Lan connection, but it more or less garrenties extremly fast speeds regardless of slots open :)
-
So I think it would be a neat idea if would could in our favourites set our upload and download slots differently per hub. As many hubs have min/max slots requirements and it'd be nice to be able to manage them seperately . Implementation wise... I don't think it'll be too hard I'll look at the code I have and see if I can see an in. *not that I can build a patch but I can at least take a look*. Lemme know what you guys think. And as I said this may have been talked about already.
-
That would be around correct yes. Though I think with generating multiple filelist system won't be a huge problem. You only need the one has table right. So like you'll have your full filelist (whatever it is) and then you can just have a 2nd filelist which essentially has pointers to the correct hash index. So when a user calls your filelist lets call it filelist B Apex will look at the call and say it's coming from hub B so use list B. Then while using list B it'll simply go. list B contains said item indexs, return items from index in List A( your general list )
-
meh no worries it's sorta partly on topic anyway, because to be able to generate different filelist/open different slots per hub is sorta all the same problem in a way, if we can do one we should be able to do the other :)
