    when you connect to the hubs, what does it say in the main frame status bar...

    it should say something like:

    H: 0/X/X

    the last two numbers can be anything, but when connecting to priv hubs the first number should always be 0, that is if the hubs dissallow public hubs (and in your case they seem to)

    Well actually i had done that after the first attempt. it made no difference.

    oh, and another thing i didn't like was when using now playing in winamp option, it advertised the fact that you were using peerweb.

    Anyway i've just given it a second chance. It gives me the same problem as I had with strongdc.

    I get messages from some hubs telling me that I am in public when I'm not

    I'm hoping this will be ironed out in apex

    you can change the winamp string....

    so you use private hubs? if so don't connect to public hubs at all (when you connect to private hubs) as some times hubcounts take some time before they update (untill next $MyINFO is sent out to the other hubs)

    I tried peerweb. But had to give it up, because one of the hubs wouldn't allow me in with it.

    you should've used emulation...

    steps to do this (reguires hub to be in favourites) :

    • Right-click on the hub emulation needs to be set to and choose "Properties"
    • Now just tick the box "Emulate DC++ in this hub"

    i'm new to apexdc++ why is it so hard for downloading files once the person whose is being downloaded from has disconnected or when no slots are available i send a request on granting me a slot and all i get is sorry i am away right now i might answer your call when i return only to be left for days even longer in most cases never to have the item finish i simply just delete the file or movie and in nearly every circumstance the person who i need the item from is uploading from me please let me know how i can get all running in both directions please mr_rocknroller1961 acca phil :)

    you will only get "sorry i am away right now i might answer your call when i return" or something like that because that person has set his client to be in "away mode" most likely because he's not available atm. though some users always keep their client in away mode...

    but most likely people don't answer your reguest for slot because they don't like users asking for slots (sometimes referred as slotbegging)

    but if your client is correctly configured, the dl should continue after the person you gueued the file from has free slots again... and thus you don't need to ask for a slot

    hi all! i just thougth of a cool feature. how about making a thumbnail view in filelist explorer and/or search window (like in windows).

    won't be happening, besides even if this was done it'd only work with other apexdc users anyways

    Do you mean iDC,the italian client?

    if not also iDC latest release (2.0) has partial dl sharing.......many users have it here in italy and now that i'm using LDC i see iDC is compatible with the other ones you said

    no i mean IceDC++ (not the private mod with hmm... questionable features that's also known by this name) but a mod based on PWDC++ made by phrozen...

    also is iDC combatible with SDC's or revconnects partialing, as these 2 have huge differences?

    I believe SDC's new partial file system in the latest cvs's use the revconnect code Crise. I'll check up on this..

    BM based his work on revconnects code, but as partialing over revconnect is done via kad BM couldn't have just taken the code to SDC as SDC doesn't support kad, and i sure hope it never will

    is it possible something like "autostart uploads if the file is already completed at XX% but i want max Y uploads overall"

    i think it should be quite similar to "autostart other uploads if speed is under XXX k/s" to do.

    it's already in all strongDc based clients but it seems to work only on big files

    also there are currently 4 client's that can do partialing, which are:

    - StrongDC++

    - LDC++

    - PeerWeb DC++

    - IceDC++

    note didn't list revconnect as it's partialing don't work with SDC's also partial transfers works between the clients listed above only :)

    Hello All..

    this is an Idea I just came across.

    is it possible to share files, which you only partially downloaded?! If am not mistaken, BT is working like that rite?! so whenever someone is downloading...everything is is downloaded is immediately shared again, so other users have very fast downloads and quickly can finished the download.

    in this case..there might be 2 hashing required

    1st: for the completed hashed file, e.g.: sijdhf9wy450ond0v9e4ih0ifn04hsdn0jh0f83y4 --> this would equal 100%

    so if someone is downloading from me, and downloaded partially, the hash will run against the complete hash, to ensure it is the exact file:

    2nd: hashinformation for the incompletefile: sijdhf9wy450ond0v9e4ih... --> this would equal 50% of completion

    this way...if the original source is not online..those guys..who did download an incomplete file...always can resume from the original source.

    is it possible?!

    it is only an idea to make sharing faster...maybe it is possible. feedback would be nice.

    partial file sharing is in SDC alredy :)

    ps: tth doesn't quite work the way you presented it (half finished file doesn't have half of the complete files hash) but that's not important

    btw>i found how NOT to get minimized windows when joining hubs - go to settings->PeerWeb DC++->"start hubs as minimized"

    i guess i found the hot water ;)

    not quite, that option fully minimizes new hub windows unless window size is stored in xml's, so the behaviour you have been talking about is actually a bug...

    Ofcourse you could add an check if user is online every 10 minutes or so to send the message you have in queue, but, then you have to be online for it to send it, else you would need hubside support.

    exactly, as i said above it wouldn't be as good as serverside implentation....

    Is it ONLY up to the hubsoft? I mean, if the feature requires smth from the client side, it could be added, and when some suitable hubsoft comes out, it would start working at once...

    no it shouldn't require anything from client side...

    as i said it could be done as client side thing, but it wouldn't be as good as serverside implentation, plus as i said above this is really more of a hubsoft feature than client feature anyway...

    Hi there,

    I think this request is more based on the hubtool rather than client, but still I gonna post it here.

    How about the feature to leave a message for a registered user? This means only registered user can leave a message to another registered user..just like in irc. e.g. /send msg OfflineUserNick MessageComesHere

    so when that user logs in, he will receive the message with the notice of the sender.

    how do u think about that?

    so that this could be done nicely it'd need hub side support (besides this is a thing that would belong serverside anyways in my opinion)

    This is why DC++ isn't as user friendly as some would like. How does anew user who got it off a website know about /help? He'd look for help in the Help menu. ^_^

    there just isn't help menu :D and new user finds out about help if he reads DC++ faq (might be mention about it in readme too, haven't checked, and readme should open at 1st startup)

    Hi. One other thing that should be considered is to add the option to restart Apex automatically when it crashes (if it crash ever :D ). I thing this should be very convinient for those who keep it up during the night.

    Also, I'd like to ask you to add the option to shut down the computer when all (or particular) transfers are complete (downloads to be exact).

    why to allow auto shutdown when dl's are complete, you downloaded a file so give some back too ^_^

    and when it crashes there is such option alredy, it just requires user to tick a box and click ok :)
