with the number of adultfinder spam bots growing on DC.. its really becoming an issue as of late. we as hub owners block every one we find.. however, if they come out with a new way to beat the bots we create, or scanners, then we don't know which hub they were in when they first posted the message to us. if it showed what hub they where in when you get the message *** User went offline [7gb[Tuzilk] [Offline]] *** changing it to include the title of the hub or some defining way. maybe in the op client itself though most bots wont spam ops. dunno.. just trying to find more ways to block adult finder and other spam bots.. so if its not able to be implemented now.. atleast set it on the back burner for future to review

currently I am in school but if you will go into TechGeeks, I will be glad to help you the best I can. I cant remember the exact layout off top of my head.. There are actually a few team members that can help with it.. as most have been hub owners for a long time

frequently with as many things as I do. I use much of the internet slang.. but I try not to in main chat cause it looks bad to new users. MOST have no clue what NOOB means lol.. or as was stated PEBKAC errors. which is BY FAR my favorite.. been using it for years.. and actually it builds conversations some times.. especially in dead chats.. and people get a kick out of what it meant.. but as a whole I try to keep most of them off Forums and such.. But Yes ATM I am Guilty As charged .. so I C It this way. sometimes it makes your life easier.. especially when dealing with people who are slow or impatient.

Nor would I expect you to have seen it. Locutus is well.. customized.. another coder built it for me and a very few others. To use LUA scripts for DC protection, and such. I only bring it into hubs when needed. as it tends to not like anyone. Its this way on purpose. its got custom built raw commands and detections in it for most every client. its based on DCDM source, but not the same as regular DCDM. source was from .495 if that helps you.. I dont use it much. only in emergencies.. (dont ask, I wont lie) grogs. where can I find out more info about this "Blackbox shell" anything to reduce overhead on resources is worth looking at for me...

You can also download PeerWeb DC installer @ http://ascendentnetwork.geekgalaxy.com just scroll down a small bit and you will see the Icon for PeerWeb, Just click on it. Server is a bit slow ATM but works well.. Hope it helps guys

Since it would massive load on the client for everyone if we included every theme made for PWDC and Apex, I am starting this topic to share YOUR themes, please include a link to screenshot (not actual image, as it would load down the server and the users browser, just a link to the screenshot, and the file itself that they can unzip/unrar and put into the themes folder and choose from it. If you find a theme here you like, Download the theme file, then unzip/unrar it, copy the filename.dctheme file into your theme's directory located in your directory for your PWDC/Apex client. Then In your PWDC/Apex client, Click file/settings/Colors & Fonts, click on Import theme, locate the filename you just downloaded and placed in the theme's directory and click OK. Please note, some style info's do not automatically change and you will have to modify a little bit but it will give you a good start. Hope this helps.. I have had no luck running PWDC on 98 first edition, not much more luck with 98se, So My guess it would be safe to say its miniumum is: Pentium 200 64 meg ram (since Windows 2000 dont run lower safely) 10 meg of Drive space (plus space for any downloads) 56 k modem (will work on 33.6 but will most likey time out on most logins to hubs) VGA w/ 1 meg of ram Windows 2000 or higher (any MS OS with the NT kernel not the DOS kernel) Hope this info helps to create a standard.

I would really like to see this feature, however, I can also see it being a nightmare to code against the favoriteusers file. I can see this causing major lag for the client, and eating up processing power from the CPU, which is going to be a problem for slower users. Especially if your in many hubs like I am..

As far as showing the GeoLocation and User info, I use it quite a bit, so I know the regional areas that most of my users are from so that I can make sure that we have ops online, during the Major Portion of the Awake Time for the users.. If that info helps Crise.. it helps me to determine the regions that I am getting the most usrs from. As for the buttons or shortcuts (I dont care which) But having a command shortcut in PWDC or Apex, or a button where I can "Open Own Filelist" would be a big help, seldom do I use the menu system, I use the toolbar far more. but dont have the option to open list, either via keyboard shortcuts or via a button on the toolbar.. Maybe this is an example of what he was referring to?

This error is specific to PTOKAX hubs. Since the hubsoft does not automatically pull updates for clients, and assumes that all clients that do not have a known tag by the hubsoft, are either faking or not a valid client. By turning on DC emulation it used DC++ TAGS and you will not get this error. This also happens in Verlihubs, This cannot be fixed via the client. but in the hubsoft itself

Many things are beginning to happen with most of the newer clients. with the shut down of p2p's all over the place. DC is getting a major boost in public awareness. I have a feeling that you will find compibility less and less of an issue. unless the user is too stubborn to upgrade. I am from the old FT your welcome to Contact me via TechGeeks (in your favorites by default in PWDC) , we probably know some of the same ppl. I used to run my own chat room for Ascii Art. and a few others. DC is not centralized so you cant "take it down" you may take down a small network of hubs but not DC itself.. so I got a feeling its only gonna get better.. Also, Irish If it helps TechGeeks is not only the support hub for PWDC and soon Apex when released, but also its a Computer Support hub for ALL users. So if you need help, Holler, We would be glad to help.

Crise, it was a very nice feature to be able to "Push" files, Especially if you have problems. sometimes the "forced" doesnt help much. In another P2P I used to be involved with, it was very helpful. if the user was setup also. you could auto allow pushes, so Updates and needed files could just be sent as long as the client was logged on. but bydefault it was not

I have had much problems with users (AND OP's) who cant connect to older versions of dc++, yes the .3xx versions. And MANY problems including server side. with older versions of rmDC.25 and below mainly. Many times rmDC will load the "OnConnect" scripts but will not load the "OnLogin" scipts that follow behind it. I am having this problem with the new TechGeeks. There is NO resolution. Nor will there be. Only way to solve is: A>Get rm To make a new Version of RmDC (I contacted him. he said he wanted to but didnt know when he would. B>UPGRADE YOUR CLIENT C>Try using Apex!

I not even gonna get involved in this topic much.. this came accross me a few days ago in one of the network founder/Geek hubs I am in and was discussed in length.. we checked some of the email addy's some were valid, others were not. also this guy could not type to save his life. Some of the hubs in the list were shut down. but this was believed to be via no-ip and dyn dns. not the government. This was due to breaking TOS agreements with the said companies... it only takes a few msgs to get them to investigate.. That network lost many domains but is back in business under a different domain provider. if that helps.. Because DC is not a centralized and organized network such as kazaa and the g1 and g2 networks, napster etc.. the governments that want to shut down ppl must do it on a network to network level, sometimes even hub to hub. where one dies 4 more will replace it. because of this structure, and ppl continuing to develop hubsofts and client softs, DC will never Die.. hope that helps.. Live to see another day.. try Apex when its released.. Do DC, Apex STyLe!

I need to finish mine. got my favorite users colors setup wrong and I cant see them unless highlighted. other than that.. my color scheme is great.. black on vivid color.. the ascii art shows up better on Black bkgds too.. lol.. oh and grogs.. that avatar looks familar lol...

OK my 2 cents worth.. Coming from Filetopia I stumbled on Sharezea which in turn led me to the PW site.. but I keep finding files that were not named what they really are and got tired of many g2 music files.. was gettin really angry about it.. and movie vids too.. pain in the butt.. so I found ares.. a smaller p2p with info on PW forums. got into DC, and got in touch with Kevo... The rest is history. Now I am a founder of a DC network of 14 hubs with 4 more wanting to join, op in over 40 hubs (I dont frequent all of them in one client) and Co own TechGeeks Online. Using Bit torrents usually trashed my connection and half the time I was uploading more than downloading so seemed pointless. With DC I got the chance to help people. I'm a geek at heart.. been "Playing" with PC's over 22 years now.. and still learning.. So it gives us a chance to give back. Our philosophy with our network is "Pride in what we do" Just ask any member of The Ascendent network, of which many are here in these forums too.. OK, ran outta cents.. so done for now.
