Reconnect to hub

11 posts in this topic

I am finding ApexDC++ is not reconnecting to DCDEV (an ADC) hub

The status message from the DCDEV hub is...

"an existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host"

I am just suprised that ApexDC++ doesn't reconnect to it.

Cannot find option to enable/disable hub auto-reconnect either

for me it does reconnect to that hub fine, but as it's an ADC hub, and ADC is still in development, so possible bugs in can be expected...

Often it just stays showing connected, user list remains visible, but no messages in main chat. On typing something and pressing enter, then appears the message "an existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" and userlist goes and I am disconnected.

I would just like the client to auto-reconnect in this situation, or at least try n times.

...and earns you a kick + ban...?

Sensible time between reconnect attempts and this does not happen, but as said the client already reconnects fine to hubs that have been disconnected for a some time...

just to prove you:

[23:24:18]*** Connection closed

[23:26:19] *** Connecting to dchub://techgeeks.geekgalaxy.com:1411...

[23:26:20] *** Connected

Your port for the hub is being used elsewhere I believe, which is why the hub is disconnecting... and not reconnecting. :D

Port for that hub?

DC uses only one (or max two) ports, for tcp and udp connections...

...and for TLS. Maybe Lee means this one.

Hmm, I've had it several times on TGO and not other hubs.. might actually be hub-related then.

actually to be specific, DCDEV will randomly drop you.. and because it shows as connection closed forcibly by remote host or something like that, it will not auto reconnect. this is meant to be this way. Artful, I talked to pretorian, he said the DCDEV hub does this even to him. is something to do with the ADC and how clients to connect to it. because ADC protocol is still being changed and developed unknown "new" commands to the client or to the hub may force your disconnect, I dont know that we could even try to fix it. Currently that hub is running a custom ADC hubsoft.. hope that helps
