Hm, just looked out and discovered that balder has done the guide I proposed, but for the "not so advanced" settings. So stay tuned for more...
-
Even better, type it out while compiling the next public release, so /help will do the trick. Otherwise users need to type http://forums.apexdc.net/index.php?showtop...amp;#entry11208 each time. :)
-
Why not, it will make the DUC soft and similar useless for people using only DC++ for P2P. Just like the PG plug-in.

Erm, now this answer is better. Thinking develops brain cells, according to science researches. Even if you are right, thinking is like war - men die, but if they do not, you end with your country 100% f* up. If they do die, there is a chance for victory. And although it is ugly, war is happens so often that it seems necessary. And many inventions are done during war, and much thinking put exactly then. >>Thinking is a necessary evil. Blah, enogh bs. :)

Great news! I am starting with preparation of some crappy Linux box to play with. P. S. This is the alphiest software version I've ever seen, you're cool man! :P

If you give bad answers, you will get worse questions back. Yeah, that's right. Using the Win PE technology you can boot Windows from CD. When done, feel free to send me your HDDs, HDDs are just a crap, which is put into the PC to make it more heavy and power-consuming. Read: Dude, PLS try to think a little bit before posting! Tyrram may have various reasons to avoid the use of live Linux, mainly lower response time & resource usage. The perfect answer is not always "Do what you know already", esp. for a person who wants to get new knowledge. I wonder how you did not recommended cracking the case and cable swithing for each OS change. On the topic... Tyrram, I do not know much about Linux, but imo you need a boot manager for the stuff. Actually you can modify the boot.ini with text editor, but I would not do it, it is too dangerous. So check Google for "Boot manager" and I am sure you will find a solution. P. S. Sorry ifmn, forgot to use PM. :P

There is always smth wrong with DVDs. AFAIK in most good hubs DVDs are allowed to share only as an image, to avoid a mess like this... But I agree it will be better if "the mess" can be resolved from the root

This guide In future, please try to keep support issues seperate from feature ideas.
-
Just a thing I have noticed in similar cases, you need to use modified STL port and there are good clues already in the Support forum (where this topic should be btw). I hope that you will receive more adequate help soon from our developers or smo more experienced in coding. @Staff: Please move to Support.

Hm, actually it can't, but it is an obligation for each user to stay in active mode, if possible, in order to allow other passive users to download from him. Because if we all switch to passive mode "just because it is easier", no one will be able to download. And if this switching solves your major problem, fine. If not, please let us know. Other reasons may be ISP related, have you tried to check both boxes "Send garbage on..." in File > Settings > Advanced?
-
Hi, 1. Are you encountering the same problem with torrents, eMule or similar P2P appz? Can you pass in Active mode with Apex Guide ? 2. About the slowing down while browsing - try the limiter. 5-10KB should be enough for normal browsing.
-
Oh well, But as BM explained to you, you gain from uploading before completion of download, and if we succeed to put back the TBI's code, you will gain even more...
-
...and moreover, we do not like leechers!
-
This too, but imagine the news bulletin: New dangerous virus for Win 98 hit today. Two computers were infected. I mean, with the no. of users still running 9x, there is not much sense in attacking those, and AFAIK there are not many attempts.

MAC has as much common with IP as a canopy and hippopotamus. However binding MAC/IP combo is quite secure. Anyway, do not waste your time.
-
Better wait for more detailed answer, but yes, it is quite easy to loose data during Linux install. One of my friens lost all his music in this way, and he is in no way a lamer, even compiles his own DC++ client. Maybe he will even read this. ;)
-
As a lamer, I would just try to fix the small bugs, wrap ApexDC++ in WINE and try to start WINE as hidden service before Apex... if Linux has services at all. ;)
-
Just type "Change MAC" in Google. 51+ tabs won't hurt you. Edit: I am in good mood today: http://www.nthelp.com/NT6/change_mac_w2k.htm :)
-
No... threads better stay open for gaining experience and knowledge... oh well, let's all do fc. Please attach the file here, to your post... imo size allows. P. S. I really respect your seriousness on the matter, so let's try lead this to an end. ;)
-
You may also consider upgrading your OS to Win 2000 or higher, Win 9x is just not optimized for such heavy network activity. In my experience Win 2k runs quite happy on PI 150MHz w/o MMX and 128MB RAM, if used ONLY for a router + light AV soft + eMule... But at the start it ran even with 32MB RAM, believe it or not. ;)
-
And even if done, MAC can be changed. A lot easier than IP even. ;)
-
@TYR: If you have installed WinISO, Ultra ISO, Magic ISO or similar, it would replace the Winrar association for *.iso files. And it is not too late, when I click on almitey's link, I get a box with a proposition to open in Magic ISO Maker.

Clients as Hubs, FTP Mirror, Extends for mp3.
Zlobomir replied to ivan386's topic in Feature Requests
1. IMO it is very hard, this means an integrated hub in each client. Say the first hub with all settings and bs is Yn, and you are using Valknut, or Verli - ApexDC++? And auto-detection of best (fastest) host, etc... Info for all clients is in the hub, if it suddenly goes offline, how the clients will find each other? In the best case, even by some spider-like way involving DC client ID numbers (read: each separate [Apex]DC++ installation gets an ID no. from a central server), and then searching clients via other hubs, I doubt that all the DC clients will or could be made compatible with such ID. 2. Sharing of FTP resources - can be useful, but you can run a proxy on your PC with the same effect? It requires a bit more knowledge, but will be the same, right? In the usual case, when you have no way to share normally, it is because the other party (ISP? ) does not like being exposed, so... 3. I think we discussed such option before, and it will be available with ADC protocol, or I am wrong? Actually, ADC may help for point 1. too.
