Ah, I've never used olvwm, although it seems to like similar to JWM. I'd probably just stick to Fluxbox if I made the switch for good, as I use bbLean on Windows... just a shame how primative Fluxbox is in comparision. Will have to make an up-to-date screenshot of my desktop, although it's changed fairly little since the last one... :)

Rather than just telling you all to get on and help, I'm currently trying to create some toolbar icons myself. Unfortunatly I'm not great Photoshop expert, and would probably only rank myself as.... intermediate. Not only does this mean I'll probably not produce good results, but it also means I'll probably take a long time to complete a whole set. Anyway, enough rambling, I'll just show you two of the icons so far. Wouldn't mind constructive criticism. Both icons are created from scratch by me, so I guess all rights reserved or whatever. I may well change these icons too, depending how much free time I have after doing a "first version" of all the icons needed.

I guess I just found out via people within DC.

Hehe, obviously we just have some seperate forum we use for spamming to get our post count up? We'll be at 100,000 downloads soon too. :)

Yeah, you can literally see all your posts via your profile.... Did that myself earlier today to find a link I'd posted.

Do you want to launch another instance anyway?
Greg replied to GS3User007's topic in Feature Requests
Hehe, I use AHK myself anyway to bring Apex, µtorrent, MSN, and others to the front with a hotkey, I can see why this would be useful to other though.... there's nowhere for people to find out about these commandline options. :) -
Hmmm, maybe, not so sure about static. The more you want, the harder (longer) it is to add. :)
-
I was just thinking of the easiest way to add it in without needing to rework the whole favorites, as there is already too many features to code to do that. Maybe even to do whatr I suggested, assuming it;s possible.

linux users are becoming more of a factor than most think
Greg replied to oldindian's topic in Client Discussion
Unfortunatly, foobar2000, Directory Opus, and a few lesser applications keep me on Windows anyway. However, you are right, and we intend to release a DC client for Linux, but as has been stated, it will not happen overnight. It will be a seperate program and cannot have all the features which ApexDC++ currently has. This is opensource software, and we don't have the resources to speed up the delivery of the client, although we do encourage anyone to help out on the project if they can. If you help develope either the main client, or the Linux or OPs versions in which we intend to bring out then it may be worth contacting a member of staff. We get told of the demand for the client(s), but you have to understand that we are trying to do our best, you're welcome to help. -
The problem is that it isn't that good, in my opinion at least. I mean they've done a good job by getting DC++ onto Linux at all, but it's not exactly feature full. When I switched to Linux for a while I could DC++ impossible to use for what I do on DC.(Which doesn't even include much downloading...)
-
Obviously it's not, well not due to the client? :P
-
Heh, in that case, I think it's safe to say this will be resolved for the next "public preview" release. :P

Seems like an interesting idea, although personally I wouldn't have the comments bit enabled because that would only further clutter the userlist which has way too many columns already. As for the checkbox type thing, I'd like to see something like in Notepad++, where you just click at the side of a line and it has a little icon appear there, and then dissappear when you click there again, it stands out more than a tickbox, which is useful if you jsut want to quickly scroll through everything. If that was to implemented, I would perfer to be able to set the colour of this, or maybe have the colour of it decided by another colour within the settings, like the progress bars or whatever, that sort of thing.

Uhh... I don't understand everything which you want, but as you what I perceive to be the first request, I think it would be easiest to not assume "users" and "nicks" are the same thing, because as you say, a user can have multiple "nicks". The easiest way around this, which I can see, would be to have multiple nicks per favorite user, just seperate by ; or whatever. Or any character which you can't use in your nick normally, or even just a space would be fine. I don't see a need for anything more complex.

This really isn't a problem, this is normal in chatting/IMing clients. There is no problem with this. The whole proxying thing is unrealistic, there's no way I would want my bandwidth used for something as meaningless as this, to serve 2000 users with a little emoticon... maybe people actually downloading files from me would be a better use of my bandwidth. All you need is a big emoticon pack, featuring the emoticons from every pack... but that's rather pointless, and that's fairly similar to what Lain was suggesting.
-
Sounds good, all you have to remember, though, is that we have limited resources. We have one main coder who works very hard, but he doesn't have enough time to code everything.... and there's still plenty of other features lined up to be coded.
-
I don't think any feel improvements have been suggested, not that are related to the client at least. You could setup your filemanager to edit your hash data to reflect you moving your files so you wouldn't really need to re-hash, but that's rather complicated if possible (which it should be).... I can't imagine there's any realistic way to do it in explorer. The option of just not moving files is also another one, although that's not really counter-attacking the problem, just avoiding it. As for the MD5 or SFV checking, as I said, I don't imagne it would be any faster.

[Crash] Running under Crossover Office emulating Windows 98 :P
Greg replied to a topic in Pre 1.0 Reports
Hehe yeah, how long was it running for? -
I'll make you a larger one if you want, just specify resolution, lol. Yeah it is something to do when bored, might make another colour version.

Haha, would have been better if it happened 30mins later too. -
You should still be worried because didn't even know what OS you were using. ;)
-
I think it would be very useful, and it's not going to have a negative affect on the people who won;t sue it or anything... it's just the ease of coding and fact there so much other stuff to do which might have an influence of whether it get implemented or not.
-
I would love this, I rely on hotkeys with foobar, which you mentioned. I really think it wouldbe beneficial. Just not to sure how it would be to implement.

F3, by the way, is a standard shortcut for seaching, although I generally just think of it as "go to next result".
