I can't remember the download stats for PWDC, but they were nowhere near close to this. Glad to see we're doing well, shouldn't be too long until we get that one million milestone.

When we're fairly confident the bugs of Beta 2 are gone, and we feel the StrongDC base we are using is stable enough. Hopefully soon, though, we just want to avoid releasing something buggy.

Opera uses GNU Aspell spell checker which basically is only used when the user runs it, unlike word processors etc. which spell check every word as you type. Opera also allows you to spell check a selection of text (eg. just one word), which obviously uses less resources. If a spell checker was implemented then using GNU Aspell would probably be fairly resource-light. Personally about 2% of my current use is for P2P. Chat/people is my primary reason for using DC now. (By the way, Opera with the use of UserJS can use spell checkers which check every word as you type, similar to word processors, but this is obviously more resource heavy. Just don;t assume that Firefox is superior and that Opera can;t offer decent spell checking.)

At the moment I don't believe there's much to include in any API, if many things become availble for third-party apps to take advantage of we will make some sort of documentation for it.

Hopefully this downtime won't have affected the progress of Beta 3 much/at all.

What the client sends is defined by the NMDC protocol. A protocol is effectively a set of rules, you are asking us to break some of the fundamental rules on which the protocol is design. If we do this it will cause incompatibilities with all other clients. I highly doubt we will be implementing any such changes in the near future. I understand your frustration, but you are going to just have to wait until the ADC protocol comes into effect and is more widely used/accepted. If you have any disagreements with what I'm saying, or would like any further explanation, by all means go ahead/ask.

Fairly good resource. Like the way at the top of the list of DC++ clients due the A in Apex. :D

Alright Xilon, sounds good. Hopefully in a few months we might start getting a bit further.

Like the diagonal lines on the background etc., as well as the little icons by things such as the Calender link. Good job, Seeker. :)

So you've started ApexDC++ multiple times before and it's never asked for one before, and now it is? If so, it would seem you must have set one, in the Security part of the Advanced Settings. As it states there, the password is not retrievable. You may be able to edit your settings.xml file or something to disabled the need for a password but I'm not too, wait for something who does to reply. Please confirm it's not been happening since first run, and tell us what version you're using.

When connecting to a hub it will automatically attempt to the users you previously downloaded the file from. If you specifically search for alternatives for a specific file, it will do so. ApexDC++ also goes through your download queue searching for alternatives automatically. I assume it does it every X seconds that the user sets as the minimum search interval. Hubs do not allow users to made searches in quick succession as it uses resources and bandwidth, so an amount of time in between searches is needed. I believe the default is around 30 seconds, if you don't specifically search for anything then I believe Apex just searches for files in your download queue. I hope that is a detailed enough explanation?
-
I believe there are precautions in place to deal with TGO going down, and Sidetrack seems to have made necessary changes to the hub recently so users should have less issues with connecting. Hopefully there shouldn't be many issues.
-
ApexDC++ will automatically search for sources periodically, manually telling it to do so will just ensure it does that file before the rest. When you connect to any hub, if a user you previously downloaded from in online it will automatically attempt to download it, unless you remove a source.
-
Yes you must connect to the hub(s) where you were previously downloading from in order to resume your downloads. If you forgot to add a hub to your favorites, it should still be in your "Recent Hubs" list/window.

I posted in this thread. The thread was made last year. :P

So it can identify the software you personally use. Automates the whole process.... new programs are automatically added, new versions are identified, and it finds out what software you use. I doubt it does much more, if it does someone will realise and everyone will stop using it. :)

Yes, it's extremely easy to add, but it'll cluster up the settings. Either need a GUI re-arrange or we can't add all the features people want. Hard enough for people to find stuff already. :)
-
I don't think we're everywhere near that stage, just seems that enough is done for others to be able to start actually adding stuff from a decent core (or start of one at least). Unfortunately, very few people seem to be interested in developing it, and even less making progress with it. :)

Moved. Either the following should change it, or I'm not sure what everyone is talking about. At the top of all threads, to the far right of the title there is something which says options. Click on it and it'll bring down a drop-down menu with topic related options, some individual... But there's also the different display modes to choose from. Select whichever one you like, personally I'm using standard.
-
Personally I think this option is unneeded. Even if the button is a waste of space, it's only a 26*26 pixel space, doesn't make a difference, and I wouldn't have thought it looks particularly annoying.

Just go into passive mode for a while? ...Until you can understand how to become active. I understand it can be a bit confusing for new users, but passive mode exists for just that.

I don't understand what you mean...
