I would vote for this feature, auto-recon is far too often at present.

I use wireless internet. But possibly not wireless in the way you describe it. It's your wireless through a router? Or the true definitive of wireless (can't remember the name off hand, WiMAX) I use a router with an ISP.

What is your default download folder set as under File>Settings>Downloads? Also, do you have a temp folder? look in there.

Sometimes the connection checker will say failed when it actually works. TBH, if you can search and download keeee it's fine. Secondly, for Pista, which router/firewall do you have?

Auto-rebooting would strike me as a hardware error. More specifically a HDD error. Run Chkdsk on your HDD's to check they are ok.
