  1. Hey,

    I've noticed a slight bug when I upgraded to version 0.3.0 the IP's and Tags are not showing up in the userlist like they should be. I'm only getting 21 IP's. it doesn't seem to be a user client effected thing because I get IP's from :: Shakespeer, DC V.698 and 691 and Apex 0.2.2 In active or Passive modes doesn't seem to effect it. This is a private campus hub, so all IP's should be in teh same range (though sometimes users who regged on campus connect from off campus which is why it's cruial to have the IP's show up in the user list). We don't allow any other Clients then the following to connect to the hub.

    Shakespeer (newest version)

    DC++ 0.691 or newer

    ApexDC++ 0.2.2 or newer.

    We running Ptokax hub software Version 0.3.5.2 with LUA 5.1 with a custom LUA script running. If you need any other info (server or client info) let me know and I'll get it.

    [Edit] Seems that after serveral hours of running it eventually does get all the IP's connected, I'll run more test to figure it out more stuff.

  2. ok i had the crash 2 times more in 20 minutes. i think that it is happening when some users/clients trying to get my list.

    how big file lists can apex handle? i am sharing around 700Gb right now and before the crash i have frequent lockups.

    :):)

    Should be able to handle 700 I've had up to 800 gb share so it should be ok :) however, that doesn't mean it's not something else in Apex's code... similar anyway. is this on a public hub? if so what one? and is there anyway you can tell what client was connecting to you (ie another Apex Client, normal DC etc.) if it is a file list issue it could be in the way a different type of client is connecting to you maybe?

  3. Hey I'm hoping someone here can help me with some lua scripting... I've coverting some stuff from LUA 4 to 5 and I need to fix the file IO and don't know how here is the current code

    <code>

    Files = {

    Settings = "config.txt",

    Commands = "cmd.txt",

    Folder = "rukus",

    List = "list.txt",

    rList = "requests.txt",

    OpHelp = "ophelp.txt",

    Help = "help.txt",

    TopPosters = "top_posters.txt",

    Pending = "list.dat",

    Share = "share.txt",

    Online = "last_seen.txt"

    }

    require(Files.Folder.."/"..Files.Commands)

    require(Files.Folder.."/"..Files.Settings)

    require(Files.Folder.."/"..Files.List)

    require(Files.Folder.."/"..Files.rList)

    require(Files.Folder.."/"..Files.TopPosters)

    require(Files.Folder.."/"..Files.Share)

    require(Files.Folder.."/"..Files.Online)

    </code>

    Thanks in advance

    I fixed the syntax error that I was getting... but now there's a different issue I'll attache the code if you guys want to check it out. what's wrong is it isn't excepting code from the hub chat.

  5. Depends on how your network is built up. If by your hub's address he or your provider can trace you back I guess it would not be enough. So changing the address could be a good idea, so in case he really does it, they at least won't find anything under the address he gave away.

    Anyway, my suggestion would be something like finding him first. :blushing: I'm sure he would make a whole bunch of campus inhabitants hate him... :)

    When I once was in that situation I could was lucky enough solving it by talking to that guy making him clear how many people he would take down - even his own selfish self. In the end he "confessed" that he just wanted to panic us to get back into the hub but didn't really intend to make his threats true. And afterwards he even became sort of a sympathetic and friendly user.

    See we do know him, two of us have already talked to him in person, and a 3rd will try because he figures the user will actually listen to him. But yes the campus pop definately would not be impressed because we use our hub for more then just downloading now, it's a place where people get help with assignments and what not. We even have events that bring the community together and such and it just helps with overall campus community. But ya.. it's an annoying situation,

  6. I have been using Peerweb and Apex for a long time with no problems - I usually have many connections open at once. Recently I installed a wireless router, set up port forwarding, etc, and my DC++ works but it will only download a few files at once. Over 90% of my connections are coming back 'Connection Timeout.' My search works fine. Lets say I try to match queue on 50 lists at once - normally they would all come up right away (my cable connection is quite fast - over 1 MB/s), but instead I am lucky if even one or two connect. I thought it was the crappy router, but I have since tried with 2 others and I get the exact same problem. Plugging the modem straight back into the PC fixes it every time, but I need the wireless. Does anyone have any thoughts? I am at my wits end, I know things are set up properly because the connection IS working, it just can't seem to handle the volume of connections I am accustomed to making. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    curious to what router your using, as I have Apex paired with an D link 524 with port forwarding and it works perfectly

    :blushing:

    as well are there any other errors you are getting with it? all? like are you able to ping the server your connecting two behind your router fine?

  7. So here's a question... Me and my fellow Op's run a private hub inside of a campus Network In canada, now recently we've been warning a user etc. for multiple things, and now he's faced with being banned, but now he's threaten us with going to NBC Universal or some such organisation and shutting us down. now personnally I'm in favour of banning him he's been warned/kicked/gagged all too many times etc. So basically I'm wondering from a few more experianced op's what you guys would do?

  8. Yes, these will be great small utilities. But I'm afraid that there is already enough stuff for a universe of coders.

    I bet, and I understand :) You guys do great work and probably have thousands of request to deal with. Thanks for a great client, and who knows maybe I can get off my lazy self and try to write a patch for it :ermm:

  9. what do you think?

    I have to say I agree :) those would be great changes. Though one more which kinda goes with the bolding thing is if with the ballon pop ups when you get a pm if they were linked so that when you click on it would pull Apex up showing said PM.

    Best thing that happened to me on DC: I somehow ended up with the server.... hehe

    Funniest thing that happened to me on DC: Met one of my users and his reaction was " OMG YOU AREN'T FAT! "

    Other stuff about me: I dunno your more or less typical Canadian?

  11. here's the issue. i succesfully download the public list. i chose a hub, connect and...

    [11:36:22] *** Connecting to techgeeks.geekgalaxy.com:1411...

    [11:36:23] *** Connected

    and that's it. it says "connected" every single time, and stops there. the hub-bar is all grean :) as if all hubs are successfully connected, but there is not a single user shown in the users panel.

    0.2.2 apex, win xp, no routers no nothing. tried changing connection settings while zonealarm was turned on. then disabled zonealarm. windows firewall of course disabled. still the same.

    any1 seen this before?... :)

    Just curious, but are you on a campus network? or a higher security network? Myself I often get that same error when trying to connect to a public huh or private hub outside of my ISP (in this case University of Vic) or I'll get a connection after a long period of time. Now I know in the case of my ISP they try to block ports, and because of that I have issues connecting.. Now I don't have this error at all when connecting to my own hub inside of the network though. :) Also where are you geographically in accordance with the hub your trying to get too as usually the farther away the hub the less chance of connecting and the greater chance of a slow connection.

  12. Well to me it doesn't seem too complicated of an idea. As you can already in the queue funciton have them organized by folder. So if in the completed download section you showed the "folder" being completed only

    instead of all the files in it. But say have this funtion only happen when you downloading complete directories.

    It wouldn't be too for I think to have a counter which could be implemented from the queue.. or cross reference it from the queue so that it could say:

    if downloading folder == true

    if files n ---> lastFile == complete then do

    Show Folder as complete in download section.

    now I don't know how easily this is integrated into the Apex Code as I've never looked into it but I think it's plausible.

  13. I actually get the same error when trying to email him too (while using the forums email system), but I'll try and connect to techgeeks if I can. My university tends to do a semi- crappy job at blocking it... but i"ll try.

  14. Forbidden

    You don't have permission to access /index.php on this server.

    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    Apache/1.3.36 Server at forums.apexdc.net Port 80

    I'm getting this error when trying to send a PM. Any ideas?

  15. Me and our fellow Op's Linked you guys to our website this year. Uvichub.sytes.net Next year we hope to enforce all PC users to Apex (that's about 800 users or so with the rest being on macs...), just because we think this is the best client and it's extremely stable. (Can't wait for a linux client too as we do have a bunch of them whom are fed up with valknut :D )

  16. Well, you look experienced to me, any other ideas from anyone? You probably know how to check whether you have real IP or not...

    My only suggestion is insuring your WAN IP is the one that's in your connection settings. I know a few of my Users have had the same issues sometimes, and it seems to be almost always that... that being said it looks like from what you said you have it set up right. And as far as I know from my experience, it's not the client after that and possibly the hub, though anyone can correct me if they know better.

  17. Pretty Simple, serves me well and keeps things clean the bottom middle auto hides as well as the start menu :D

    Also the System Tray auto hides independently of everything else.

    ::Edit:: This is Windows as you may be able to tell :D

  18. Is there anyway we can filter out IPs of a certain type. For in my instance we want to keep all our traffic inside of the ip range or 142.104.0.0 because as soon as we hit off campus traffic it uses up our users daily bandwidth limits and tat 1 gig up and down this is a big issue. At the moment we scan the ip's by hand and kick people and use an auto reg script that checks your ip at reg. but that doesn't stop people from reging on Uvic's wireless and going home and trying to use our hub. I'm not sure if any other clients have this function or not. I know it's possible to filter through a router or firewall software, but it'd be nice to have a function to run through the ip address and auto kick them.

    [Edit]and this is apparently the wrong thread for this woops.

  19. Hi there as an OP of Uvic's Hub I was wondering just how these Raw commands work, as I can't seem to find any good tutorials on how to use them. Do you know anywhere I could get guidelines to this?

  20. a great function would be a pernament gag function... if that's even able to pull off. Me and my set of admins on my hub have been trying to pull that off for a few month with either a lua script or in DC++ itself. But we noticed that it would be nice to have an option to keep certain people from talking in chat but not disallowing them from the hub itself as the extra content is nice.
