Sharelist Problem

Hello I've got a problem with my dc client, I'm hoping someone could help me out.

A couple of weeks ago I reinstalled WinXP, and I installed the first DC client that I found, namely StrongDC.

After using it for a while, I decided that I didn't like it and chose PeerWeb instead.

I think it's important to mention that before installing PeerWeb, I didn't uninstall StrongDC, I simply deleted it.

After that I installed Peerweb and started to configure it - when I got to the 'sharing' section I was surprised to see that the folder that i wanted to share (the folder the I was sharing when I was using StrongDC) simply wasn't there anymore.

I started searching for it, but it was all in vain, it's not hidden, nor deleted, the space on disk is still occupied, but the folder simply doesn't appear.

I tried using a file recovery tool but it didn't help, since the files were not deleted.

Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

Just restore the files from the Recycle Bin? Seeing as they havn't been removed but are still on the disk i assume they are there? If it was the SDC downloads folder I would assume that be in the StrongDC++ directory, which you deleted.

I may have misunderstood you, please try and explain what I got wrong if I did, thanks.

Thank you for answering and sorry for not being very clear.

The folder that is missing was not IN the SDC install folder, BUT it was the folder(it and its subfolders) that I was sharing back when I was using SDC.

After I deleted the SDC folder, I noticed that it(the folder that I was sharing) wasn't there anymore, so I assume it had something to do with the fact that I deleted the SDC folder. As I said in my previous post, I have not deleted it nor hidden the folder that I was sharing, it simply disappeared after I deleted the SDC folder.

If it helps, it was a 30 GB+ folder that contained lossless music, and it would take me 3-4 months to download it again.

As I've mentioned, the space on disk is still occupied, that's why I still hope to recover it.

try accessing the missing folder via command prompt (start > run > cmd) or by writing the path in explorer address bar...

...or booting up with some live distribution from the CD, supporting your file system (I know it already sounds like a painkiller from my side). Another "brutal" decision is to attach the HDD to another PC.

At last, what recovery tool have you used?

Sorry for not answering earlier. I'ved tried accessing the folder via command prompt - didn't work. I will try to connect the HDD to another PC and tell you if that works.

I forgot to mention that I reinstalled WinXP after I saw that the folder is missing, hoping that this will solve the problem - obviously it didn't.

Finally resstored that folder today. I used a file recovery tool - O&O file recovery. Thanks for your help.
