  1. I wonder if anyone expected to see this, ApexDC++ 1.6.5, that is? Notably this version focuses on keeping the client in its current state, well current by updating various dependencies including OpenSSL, the compiler used has also been updated to the latest version. Otherwise some time has been taken to incorporate some changes from DC++, including a high priority fix and a change long overdue to default settings. Update: an obsolete build was accidentally uploaded to SourceForge very briefly, in case you experience any issues with your installation then downloading the 1.6.5 version again should fix it. To find out if you are on the correct release version you may check Help > About > Git commit, it should be the following: 47d5052582fd424d3a54edc33307607d1e87eb2b (if it is listed as something else you are running the outdated 1.6.5 binary) A full list of changes are available on here. As usual we strongly recommend upgrading to 1.6.5 as soon as possible. Download: ApexDC++ 1.6.5 Happy Holidays and have a good New Year
  2. ApexDC++ 1.6.1 security update

    It's been too long since our last version - nearly two years! We're pleased to announce 1.6.1 has been released and is available for immediate download. In this new version, we've focused on updating libs such as OpenSSL 1.0.2h (lots of security fixes), Inno Setup, Boost and MSVC 2015 Update 2. Furthermore, we hope to have finally fixed the connectivity issues with encrypted connections and a rare crash when removing hubs from favourites. We no longer automatically add any hubs to favourites, as this has been removed in 1.6.1. A full list of changes are available on here. As 1.6.0 is so old, we strongly recommend upgrading to 1.6.1 as soon as possible. Download: ApexDC++ 1.6.1 Update: The binary only slim package uploaded to SourceForge seems to have been corrupt, this has now been remedied. It might take some time for the new file to populate on all the mirrors, sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
  3. It has been quite a while again. We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of 1.6.3 a maintenance update continuing in the same vein as the two before it. This time the focus is on updating third party dependencies and build tools with the latest security updates and patches. Notably the binaries distributed for the Windows XP operating system had a configuration issue for the previous version and this has now been addressed for our friends still in the past. A full list of changes are available on here. As usual we strongly recommend upgrading to 1.6.3 as soon as possible, regardless of which version of Windows you happen to be running. For the people who need the XP compatible binaries, we would like to give this remainder about changes introduced in release packaging with the previous version. Download: ApexDC++ 1.6.3 Update: 1.6.3 has an issue with compressed transfers, that affects connectivity, turning off the setting "Enable safe and compressed transfers" should avoid this issue on 1.6.3. Alternatively you can hold off upgrading until a fix is available.
  4. We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of another maintenance update 1.6.4. This version fixes connectivity issues with compressed transfers caused by recent updates to the zlib library that we use. These connectivity issues randomly affect both downloads and uploads with clients that are running an affected version of zlib without the appropriate fix included. Additionally OpenSSL and zlib dependencies have also been updated once again, in order to keep things current. For the people who still need the XP compatible binaries, we would like to take this chance to once more remind you about recent changes in release packaging for your operating system. A full list of changes are available on here. As usual we strongly recommend upgrading to 1.6.4 as soon as possible. Download: ApexDC++ 1.6.4
  5. We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of 1.6.2. This update fixes an exploit that allowed users to send malicious search requests to a hub, causing a large flood of UDP traffic to a specified IP address. OpenCandy, the recommendation engine behind sponsored programs in the installer, has now been removed. You should no longer be offered any additional software when running the setup file. They were terrible at responding and it wasn't worth the compromise. WIndows XP binaries have been removed from the setup files and are included as a separate download. More information can be found in the forum post. We're looking to include some minor improvements on the next version, so stay tuned for that. Download: ApexDC++ 1.6.2
  6. We have released 1.6.0 to address some security issues regarding hub hijacking and upgraded to the latest OpenSSL 1.0.1i. The ADC-Fun.com hub domain was hijacked recently and therefore we have blocked this to prevent users connecting to this fraudulent hub. We have also changed the behaviour of the security settings page to ensure this won't happen again. Therefore, we highly recommend you upgrade to 1.6.0 as soon as possible. Anybody experiencing connection issues on the previous versions using the adcs:// protocol should see this finally fixed in 1.6.0; thanks for your patience on this one. Hope everyone's having a good Summer. Download: ApexDC++ 1.6.0
  7. We are pleased to announce immediate availability ApexDC++ 1.5.14, fixing security vulnerabilities found in the OpenSSL. The OpenSSL team had this to say about one of the vulnerabilities: Therefore we advise all users on previous versions to upgrade to 1.5.14 immediately. The installer will provide a smooth upgrade without losing any settings or your queue. Check out our full changelog for further details. Download: ApexDC++ 1.5.14
  8. We have published a maintenance release available for immediate download. 1.5.13 fixes a small set of issues that can in the worst case scenario render your installation of ApexDC effectively unusable. You can check out the full changelog here. We recommend that you update your version of ApexDC as soon as possible. Download: ApexDC++ 1.5.13
  9. Update: We have re-released 1.5.12 to address an usability concern with the original release version, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We have published a maintenance release available for immediate download. 1.5.12 fixes the remainder of known issues for 1.5.10 and majority of known issues for 1.5.11. You can check out the full changelog here. On April 8th, 2014 Microsoft officially ceased its consumer support for their Windows XP operating system, originally released in 2001. With the release of 1.5.11 it was brought to our attention that ApexDC can no longer run on all versions of Windows XP, more specifically installations that have not been upgraded with the last available service pack for the operating system (SP3). Unfortunately there is nothing we can do to address this problem and as such Service Pack 3 is the only supported version of XP for ApexDC going forward. We will continue to provide binaries that can run on Windows XP Service Pack 3 as long as it is technically possible and otherwise feasible for us to do so. However, in practice this means that when it comes to ApexDC all support for Windows XP is likely end sometime later this year. This will also mean that support for old CPU's without SSE2 instructions will end at that time. Download: ApexDC++ 1.5.12
  10. Update: The release of 1.5.11 has been officially rolled out. Full changelog available now. If you haven't done so yet please head on over to the download page and update your installation of ApexDC right now. On April 7th, 2014 OpenSSL released a security advisory concerning CVE-2014-0160 also known as Heartbleed. This is a serious security vulnerability in the SSL/TLS library that can result in your private data being compromised without leaving any trace whatsoever. You can check for more specific details from the above links. Most commonly used DC clients are affected by this issue, including ApexDC. Earlier today (April 10th) DC++ released a fixed version but all versions of DC++ from 0.799 to 0.841 and their derivatives are vulnerable. The specific ApexDC versions affected are at least 1.5.3 through 1.5.10. It is important to note that even if the DC++ base version differs from those listed above a client may still be vulnerable as long as it uses one of affected versions of OpenSSL. There is currently, however, no easy way for users to tell what specific version of OpenSSL is used by a particular client. Reading this you may be thinking: But, I am not using SSL/TLS at all right, because I am only on NMDC hubs. This is actually not necessarily true because a select set of clients, such as StrongDC and its derivatives, including ApexDC implement an unnamed NMDC extension that allows TLS to be used for client to client connections between supporting clients. Thus making these clients also affected by this issue outside of ADC and ADCS.. Two hours ago, version 1.5.11 of ApexDC was uploaded to SourceForge and is listed as the latest download there. Likewise the download links on this site now also point to those files. Release announcement including full changelog and all that important information will be made available sometime on the 11th, but for now suffice to say 1.5.11 will fix the issue discussed here as well as a set of other issues found in 1.5.10.
  11. We have been testing 1.5.10 for a month now to try and resolve the startup issues users faced with 1.5.9. We're pleased to announce 1.5.10 fixes this issue and a host of other issues. We have merged with DC++ to include new search and hash changes - we have included a conversion tool that will automatically migrate your share to the new hash database where compatible. Only Windows XP users may need to rehash their share due to the old WinAPI (you guys have till April 2014 to upgrade).   When you first start 1.5.10 you will see a new splash screen indicator displaying your conversion progress to the new hash database (should take 10-20 minutes on first run). This was inevitable as DC++ changed their hash database to version 3 a while ago and was causing our users issues with filelists.   1.5.10 is considered stable and we highly recommend users on previous versions to upgrade (especially 1.5.9).   Download: ApexDC++ 1.5.10
  12. Happy New Year everyone! We have published a maintenance release for immediate download. 1.5.9 provides bug fixes, updates the compiler to Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 and introduces some new userlist icons pictured below. You can check out the full changelog here. Fun fact: we have recently hit 2000 revisions in our SVN and are about to reach our 8 year Anniversary! Download: ApexDC++ 1.5.9
  13. Following DC++'s recent security fixes, we have released 1.5.7 to keep our users protected. In addition to the security fixes we have merged the latest Plugin API code with DC++ so you can use the plugins available on this page. Make sure you update the plugins if you're upgrading from 1.5.6. You can check out the full changelog available here.   Developers can now compile our source using Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 as we have provided support for this. Separate Windows XP binaries are compiled with 2012 - make sure you check out the XP folder if you're upgrading on Windows XP. The installer will automatically select the correct binaries if you're unsure.   We strongly recommend all existing users upgrade due to the nature of the security fixes.   Update 07/08/2013: >An updated version has been uploaded. Everyone who has upgraded before this date will need to download the new version - sorry for any inconvenience. >More information is available here.   Download: ApexDC++ 1.5.7
  14. release ApexDC++ 1.5.8 available

    We have published a 1.5.8 Beta with the intention of making it final/stable if no show stopping bugs are reported. There's a new feature that shows you the correct percentage of a file an uploader is requesting off you, which helps determine their ETA to finish the download. Previously we displayed the upload chunk size and feel this is a more accurate approach. Please note that this will only take effect between 1.5.8 users and later - so get updating Any mandatory updates now use the update check window to notify you and we have done further backend improvements. Download: ApexDC++ 1.5.8
  15. We are pleased to announce 1.5.6 to the public, fixing a security vulnerability related to the Magnet URI handler and merging to ADC 1.0.2 protocol. A few other additions include tidying up the plugin menu (it's now located in File > Plugins menu and actually works) and synchronising with DC++'s speed limiter code. We have also updated the OpenSSL library bringing with it a few security fixes aswell.   Crise has posted some fine words on the recent changes to the Plugin API, so check it out here.   As you can see there are a few security updates in this release and therefore we are making this a mandatory upgrade. You can check out the full changelog or download it straight away on our website.
  16. release ApexDC++ 1.5.5 is here

    Yes we are alive and kicking! This is a routine maintenance release that catches up to the latest plugin changes implemented in DC++ by Crise and a few other general fixes. While we're migrating over to using DC++ maintained plugins there are two plugin files offered for download. The traditional plugins are still available and the new LuaPlugin is renamed to ScriptPlugin; you can find both of them here. A list of changes have been published and we are expanding our private testing group for 2.0. Expect to see another post regarding recruitment for this very soon. Download 1.5.5
  17. release ApexDC++ 1.5.4

    We are pleased to announce 1.5.4 to the public. This is a routine maintenance release that includes bug fixes and a few updates. Although there are plugins fixes, you don't need to update them directly (the previous version for 1.5.3 will work). You should be notified of the update in your client within the next few days or you can download it straight away from the link below. Download: ApexDC++ 1.5.4
  18. A recently disclosed security vulnerability with OpenSSL has caused us to release 1.5.3. The update stops a possible remote-exploit when loading certificates from hard disk and we advise you to upgrade immediately. We shall notify users via client soon and sorry for any inconvenience. Download: ApexDC 1.5.3
  19. We are releasing a 1.5.2 maintenance update to fix numerous reports from our Tracker. Some of these include logging format, removing incomplete downloads from queue and some other welcome fixes. An undisclosed security vulnerability relating to the experimental KEYP extension has been fixed; as such, we strongly recommend you to upgrade as soon as possible. Our next major update - 2.0 - will see an icon face lift ready for public testing. We shall announce more details when the time comes, but in the meantime enjoy the 1.5.2 update. Download: ApexDC++ 1.5.2
  20. We are pleased to push 1.5.1 as a minor maintenance release and announce our partnership with FlexHub to bring you a new encrypted ADCS hub hosted by TAN. Flexhub is an upcoming hubsoft that aims to please both NMDC and ADC users by allowing them to connect to the same hub. Benefits of FlexHub include easy migration from NMDC to ADC, encrypted communication and transfers, friendly hub controls and active developers. Any hub owners who are tired of using the same old and outdated hub software should give this a try. We will be working closely with the FlexHub Dev team in order to bring new features requiring hubsoft support in 2.0. If you haven't already tried FlexHub, you can download it here (compatible with Windows and Linux). All existing 1.5.0 users will be prompted to auto update soon. For those who are impatient, you can head over to our download page.
  21. The ApexDC++ Management team is pleased to announce the immediate availability of 1.5.0. The primary focus in this release was to update our core library to include the latest changes from the mainline DC++ 0.782 client. We have also improved upon the original auto updating procedure so you will no longer need to visit our website to download future versions (Crise has kindly created a blog post regarding this change). With our merge to DC++ you will now find it easier to automatically setup your connection in connection settings. ApexDC++ should automatically forward relevant ports so you don't need to spend that time doing so. There are lots more fixes in this version and we look forward to hearing your feedback. Remember, when future versions are released the client will prompt you to auto update from now on. Download: ApexDC++ 1.5.0
  22. We are celebrating our 1,000th commit to our development repository by giving you the chance to test 1.5.0 before it is officially announced. This beta release is designed to show off the latest core changes when merging to the DC++ library. You can read further details on this in the release topic. The Beta version is currently available to forum members only. If you don't have an account please register (it's free!) and we'll see you in the members only area. Download
