  1. Hell one of our admins wrote an entire peerweb configuration guide, around 30 pages in length simply because one doesnt appear to exist.

:pinch: :P can we have a copy ;) Kevo's guide is really good but there could be some things he missed

  2. I don't see how ADC would be of use? :D

your probably right, i haven't looked at that link much either. However it will show what messages may appear in the future :)

Unfortunatly it's ver hard for us "experienced" users to realise things that arn't obvious to a new user. Trying to view the program from a new persons perspective is suprisingly hard, for me at least.

maybe we could split this thread or starts a new one into a sort of noob, guide request thingy. i.e. people new to DC can post up what they found difficult when they first start(ed) to use DC. then we could produce a noob startup guide

  3. A list of the *actual* meanings of various cryptic status and error messages used in DC clients would be excellent - if that is on the agenda for ApexDC++ I really cannot wait. (Can't wait anyway)

I'd assume there is a list somewhere, since the error and status messages often are common ones used in DC++ as well - but I have not been able to find one. Does anybody else know?

You could try NMDC wiki or the ADC draft

  4. We don't need to merge if we're going to use the source to create ApexDC++ Op.

Will the lua support from dcdm-svn work with ApexDC++ Op.

    considering...

Deadmeat? DCDM++ is based on 0.401 code. The problem is newer DC++ versions will not allow you to grab their filelist and download off them. This is how the dev's are forcing you to update. DCDM++ is still being worked on, they're in 'buggy betas' stage.

does this mean that none of the lua scripting functionality can be used

  5. I think this link may be usefull to anyone intrested in a linux segmented downloading implmentation of dc++

Seen lua scripting in any op clients that are still being developed?

    sorry only just saw this.

No, only dcdm-svn. is it possible (how difficult would it be) to merge theire lua support with the apex project. Would the fact that they havn't developed for ... however long, matter. i.e. how much do the chages made to dc effect the lua support.

edit:using a browser without spell checker again ;)

  6. the main problem is that it must be supported in client who receive the search not just your client.

The good point is that there was a point in ADC specification about regex searches, so maybe future will bring it ;)

I hadn't thought of that. Regex would be good it also looks like the search bug i reposted will be resolved in ADC cheers ;).

Edit: The Surgeon, The Cramps & The Toy Dolls are where my musical interests lie

  7. Is possible to perform boolean searches in pwdc.

e.g (toxic OR "Britney Spears") +~cover -waste

I have used google syntax as it seems as good as any.

I am pretty sure this is not possible if not could i have this as a feature request

edit: i am not a fan of Britney, well not her music <_<

  8. I tried NetLimiter, but it crashes on startup, probably because of some bad DLLs left over. [EDIT] my mistake, not Netlimiter, but other internet apps crash when have it installed.

    try a program called NetLimiter

:)<_< and we have gone full circle.

RainyShadow. perhaps you should post the exception you get when your DC crashes. Mayby some on else will have better luck then me with it

  9. please correct me if im wrong but..

i think that although it is possible that the pwdc tag (dont know anything about this) is messing up your lus script. it can probly be fixed by changing your patter match

btw i dont thing lua does true regex, if you have writen a regex match for lua using some of the more advance regexe characters it may not work. see the following for info on string patterns in lua sritng patterns

edit: i also know nothing about potax

  10. i agree with Kulmegil. i would really love to see lua. it is good way for people to test and develop new functionality.

i also think regex in adlsearch is a must. i am quite supprised that it is not there already. i woudnl't have thought it would have been that difficult a thing to implment. However i know there are already loads of things to do :).

Edit: if i could compile the damm thing on vc 2005 i might be able to have a crack at some of these things :)

  11. DC++ & Torrent multisourcing would be easier and for sure should be used a lot if immplemented.

Technically i don't know how easy this is, but i would certainty like to see this rather then ftp.

could you use some of the sharzaa code.

  12. based on my expirience they do, then again my ip changes about once per year (unless i manually change it) so my expiriences in this area are bit limited...

may have been a bit of a bold statement but (my ip change three times today %&$*, thats another gripe) wheni updated my dns i still had hubs saying "you present .. ip but have .. ip message".

it looks like the hub resolves the dns entry when you first connect and the just uses that ip from then on. which makes total sense.

and reconnect all, and reconnect disconnected will most likely be in ;)

    cool :blushing:

edit:just wanted to say you dont need to close the app for settings to take affect. just hit the reconnect button for the hub

i was waiting for that one ;).

As it has come im going to pre-empt the next one i expexted

^_^ had to be done :blushing:

  14. the best quote has to be

...I have discovered a truly marvelous proof of this, which this margin is too narrow to contain

    ref:wikipedia

    but i also like

"Anarchy - it's not the law, it's just a good idea."

"America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between."

"Arguments are to be avoided; they are always vulgar and often convincing."

"I am not young enough to know everything."

"Only dull people are brilliant at breakfast."

    last one ;)

sorry i went a bit mad there ^_^

  15. I'd say it won't fully be in effect until you reconnect, but if you are not there when update happens, i'd say things would still work pretty much fine. Anyone can give a better answer, if they want to :)

my expirence is that the if you update your dns settings you need to wait a minute before connecting (obviously, because of the propagation issues) but once you connect its fine. however (and when i first posted to this topic i wasn't having problems, those problems spyke ;)) but now my ip seems to be changing loads, nothing to do with dc. and it seems to be taking longer and longer for my DNS changes to propagate. Again nothing to do with DC.... what was my point

oh yer i didn't have on i wanted to ask a question :blushing: how can i tell if a hub is using the correct IP?

Edit: the spell checker in my browser could do with being improved ^_^

EDIT: if you don't reconnect the DNS change WONT take affect. .. a reconnect all would be a nice feature ;)

  16. ;) thats more like it :blushing:

edit:some links seem to still be dead but thats understandable. but where is there spout about what just happened. they have to publish it all (if they can)
