I think it is good, if it offers smth better. Why not having the same rare files nowhere to be found, at higher speed, with the same or even greater communities? If smo is against, I dare to say it is bringing us back to Inquisition days. :)

Here is the help for my humble hub: To register: 1. Type "/fav" no quotes in the main chat (the one with the list on the right) and press ENTER. 2. Open Favorite Hubs (the yellow star, or the menu View>Favorite Hubs, or only Ctrl+F, while you are in the main chat). 3. Select "TCP The Cat's Place ** The Ascendent Network **" and open Properties (right mouse button over the hub name, the button Properties below the list or Alt+P). 4. In the new window, put [Tomcat]YourNick for M or [Cat] for F in the Nick field.* 5. Put your desired password in the Password field. 6. Press OK. 7. Go back to the main chat and type "+regme password", no quotes, password=YourPassword (step 5). 8. Reconnect to the hub (menu File>Reconnect or only Ctrl+R , while you are in the main chat). *Prefixes might differ for other hubs or not required at all. **Note: In some hub softs you will need to use !regme or another command, or wait for an OP to register you, but the above steps are generally accepted in hubs. /Off I am glad to see a user willing to reg, nobody gives a sh*t in mine (incl. the Staff, or at least their effords can't be seen as regged users). /Off

Yep, I know, it's exactly the same thing I am trying to explain to the users. ;)

If it is not some Vista-specific issue, please verify all your paths are correct and the folders are not read-only.

Again and again, yes, it was not very wise... Smo decided to surprise even us, the testers, with all these new features. Sorry for the inconvenience, I hope all will be OK soon.
-
Ouch, this is not a very polite answer, but hey, how true... However someone could say the song may be addressed as well to the man responsible for releasing such a beta. ;)
-
Nope... This RTE is EXACTLY my issue. And it is also in the latest B3. So it is not so "PC specific", and my desktop is not so much to blame... @BigD - Please, do your best to trace this RTE and tell us how (hot, the hell ) to reproduce it. Then we hope it will be easy to solve. Also, what about the "and also a another that appears which nobody has posted"? Pls describe it.

Heh, security is up to the user, our task would be to provide IP/mask rule editor or sg, since "only LAN" is not good at the existence of Hamachi, etc.
-
Yes, although it won't be quite accurate, since some users will download the 1.0.0 B3 because of probs with 1.0.0 B2, hehe. :D
-
Just note that Scheduled Tasks wraps the appy to svchost, in case you need to terminate it... And in my experience with other apps, they are not likely to crash in this mode. And there is not 100% warranty that even a real service will not crash.

*I have somehow missed the public 0.5.0. But in case there was not such, I am sick of "postmen". Please be kindly informed that: 1. The team is not supported by yes men, I am sharply criticizing the release of 1.0.0 in such a way, although I apreciate the try all of us to be surprised. Unfortunately it did not turned to be a nice surprise, sh*t happens. 2. ApexDC++ 0.4.0 runs quite fine, except for smth I have already mentioned as a suspicion, and which has lead to, at least for my PC, to 0.5.x, which is stable as rock on it. Too bad 0.5.x is not likely to be released at all. 3. Forgive me, but from your position, your post... erm, does not look good.
-
Actually Apex has a web-server already. So I think that if you set it up, then schedule it to run at startup, and manage it remotely, all will be OK. :D
-
I guess the newest version of SDC++ has to do with it. (@BM )

Noc, I hope this last test is s*rewed too, since both my Up/Down is just near V.92 modem. Pls post the results for you from www.speedtest.net , so we can at least have a reliable tool. Edit: It is better with IE than with FF, 443/333 Up/Down, near Satellite.
-
Hm, strong point, and it is same as having more shares... Why not indeed? A good client must follow the rules. A really good client must set the rules. So if Apex is going to be really good, we have to set some harmless things we find useful. :D

Could be connected with, f. ex. that when I change the hub address in Fav Hubs properties, I need to reopen the respective hub frame to reflect the change...

Yes, and I hope to have more Raws soon, why not even unlimited with "Add new..." button?

>> Option 1. Most Hungarian ISP s*x. But then >> most Bulgarian ISPs s*x too. But well, the last is quite true. Option 2. There is a small s*rewed piece of shh... equipment right after your modems, in direction to the ISP. And each time this s*rewed device s*rews up (might be just insufficient power to the device, or, unlikely, badly calculated delay for it compared to the next one), your modems are s*rewed too. Might be even small power fluctuations, not able to turn off the PC, but enuf to put the modems in "coma". Just contact your ISPs with exact description of the problem, and if possible, the exact hour and minute it has happened last few times (in case they are doing smth on the line during this time). After all, in such cases they may even do not know that smth is wrong, and only the users go nuts. I had a similar issue with my ISP, losing connectivity on regular intervals for several mins, only a small part of the network was affected, and after I posted on their forum, it got solved for several days.

imho this one could be hard, although something from the Linux project may help, there it is daemon-based. But if an app is not designed as service, it is hard to make it behave like one, and having GUI and stuff. However, using Scheduled tasks>Start at system startup may help, and all depends whether on second start>clicking yes it will bring up the GUI or a crash message.
-
I admit these messages are far from perfect, but at least they are standard. PLEASE do not touch them. How do you imagine the support, when a user says that he is getting, f. ex. "The cat of your grandmother is very sick."
-
The hub can't really be the bottleneck, since in the city at least you should have real IPs one for each other (if one ISP). Have you tried "Send garbage on incoming/outgoing connections"?

/Off OK, I feel the need that smo has to resume the events, so we can discuss on one basis (tho U know all that I know and maybe more, and probably there are better places for this, but the conclusion below is for all the users). 1. The so-called 1.0.0 B1 can't be called even alpha, at least considering the locked Bugs & Crashes forum. 2. The so-called 1.0.0 B2 is maybe a bit closer to alpha, considering the coming 1.0.0 B3. 3. The (I hope not just so-called ) 1.0.0 B3 should fix all this crap, but it is still not available for users (in order to avoid 1.0.0 Bxxx). Based on the above, I am suggesting to wait until 1.0.0 B3 is ready, since to support B1 and B2 is like trying to fix my car. Meanwhile, I was hoping that Embryo is still on 0.4.0. /Off Edit: I. e., check for this bug suspicion in the latest B3, why not even before releasing it public. So it somehow helps the author I hope.

Acc. to our little investigation with Tony, it all depends of the installed code-page tables on the PC. That is, Control Panel>Regional and Language Options>Advanced.

Please check if your download path is correct and whether the download folder is not marked as read-only. Is this only with existing downloads, or with new ones as well? If you have replaces only the ApexDC++.exe and ApexDC++.pdb files, this is very strange.
