Can it be fixed ? Or at least removed...
-
Hey, can I ask for a separate file ? Opening the -now 7.06 MB- file is getting annoying.
Just add a separate guarding.txt ! It would speed things up quite a bit.
Or am I in the wrong section ? Feature Requests, mabey ?

I noticed alot of anti-piracy IP blocks. Wich is good.
My friend is within that IP range. His provider is RNet (Rahova NET) wich recently changed to some "...link" thing. Donno the details.
PM me if you want his specific IP. Only for moderators (or admins) but you should be able to find the range in Notepad (Ctrl+F)
I'm from Romania and I'm using ApexDC++ 0.4.0 with the coolest plugin ever made, PeerGuardian. Can those messages be changed ? I would like to customize every message for every IP that I block. Could it be done ?
I'll post in the "Feature Request" section as well...

I dissagree. Video info will not be so accurate as the MP3 info. Video bitrate is an average between the first few seconds of the file. And not even the MP3 info is 100% accurate because it depends on the header of the file wich can be easily corrupted or modified.
The only solution for the video would be to store this info inside the filelist via GSpot (or similar) - http://gspot.headbands.com/
As for previewing the actual file, just use AVIPreview !

Won't it be easyer to just right click the hub's tab - Hub Commands - Disable Mainchat ?
-
Great ideea. Now go do it ! Personaly, I just need to "supress" every other hub but one.

I don't have a very good external connection, except for a maximum of 2.5 MB/s line with only a few other networks in the city. That's my full metro speed. Else I'm capped at 45 KB/s.
My problem: I searched for a file that many many users had. So, naturaly Apex choose more sources. Like 22 or so with only 6 active segments. Out of all of those, there was only one that stood out by 600 KB/s. But guess what happend... Apex quickly finished the segment and I couldn't get another slot from that user ! I tryied aksing him politely for a 10 minute slot, but there was no reply.
I was sick with rage and my gut couldn'd take it any more so I had to post and express my feelings. So please make a right click option to select a peer as the only available source and only one segment so the download goes smooth and uninterrupted.

Let's say someone downloaded something from me. All was well. Then I started to wonder about the stuff that he/she/it shared. I grabed the filelist, browsed a bit, and added the nick to the favorite user list for a later download, not knowing the user was offline. Immediately as the user finished downloading. God damn leecher !
So here's my problem : Uppon adding the offline nick and looking at the fav list, there's no frikin' hub listed !!
The nick would just be added in vain.
I suggest remembering the hub, and possibly the IP when you add someone to the fav list even if the user went offline. Currently, only the nick is added (not followed by the IP address) and so, the user can change the nick at any time and you would just end up with an extra nick in the fav list. Wich, in time, would only be harder to browse.
This is more like a feature request. Perhaps I should post it in the Feature Reqest section.

uTorrent does it. Right ?

I'm down for a marker line. BUT [insert long pause here] this has to be served with an "Arrow up / last line" feature. Just like in IRC. It's so very useful ! XChat's got marker lines but it's configurable. Either you want it enabled (wich by default it is) either you don't.
So as long as you make an option to disable it, users won't complain.

What if I wanna grant someone a two day slot instead of a week ?
Or perhaps 2-3 hours untill he/she completes all the downloads ?
What then ? As I said, it's not a top priority, but it would be nice.

I'm talking about a feature that auto-searches the nick of the favored user. A feature that checks both the nick and the IP (*) in EVERY single hub that you're in. That shouldn't be so hard (i think/hope/therefor I am) to implement.
(*) So there won't be any goofs searching for a user called "spider-man" or "Killer" :P

It think it's userful and much more convenient then right clicking and selecting these options.

I think it's a bug. I just saw that so I thought of reporting it.
Sometimes I even see -1 byte filelists and -1 B files.
I also see dead people. :whistling:
For some finished uploads there's no speed at all. Not even the TTH. But that's understandable because it's only a 24 bit file (?)
So I think you can't see something like 1 MB/s for a 7 kB file.
-
Also if the hub's name didn't change to 'Offline' would be nice. Spammers hit and run with a stupid link and I don't even know wich hub the message came from ! :whistling:
And for PeerGuardian to work correctly it would have to remember the user's IP. :stuart:

What about a mug shot for favorite users ? If someone adds me to the fav user list, then the program downloads a small picture of me. Not necessarily a picture. It could be like an avatar or something. A custom-made image by the user.
About the boy/girl thing, that's already happening. Sometimes I even tranvstite. :whistling: I change my nick into some cute girl and ask for help on several hubs You have no ideea how many people (among the male population) compete with one and other in order to help you !! That is, if you know how to fake it and ask the right kinda questions.
Asl pls is dead. Long time. Don't you dare bring it back to DC ! But if it helps people getting laid, then be my guest... :stuart:

Um, something like this ?

Ok. So he is ignored and his IP is banned. What should I check in order for me to download ? Incoming or Outgoing ?
I understand that the Search checkbox is used for my files popping up on his searches. Right ? I don't mind that. I'm actualy glad that he can see I've got the stuff he's searching for and can't download due to the fact that he's ingnored. And he knows he's ignored. That's the sheer beauty of it. Talk trash and insult other people and you WILL get screwed. If the stuff I shared was (and still is) free why did he have to bitch about it ? A perfect example of human stupidity.
Tragic actualy...
-
So his Incoming Connections are my Outgoing Connections ? L0L Sounds sorta fuzzy.
Let's just say I wanna be able to download from an ignored user, but wouldn't allow him to download from me. Not that I would want to download something from an ignored user in the first place, but I might... So what should I check in order for me to download and him not to ?
Right now, I've checked both. Why ? Because once I add him to the ignore list, then his soul is lost forever. It just seems fair this way. I can't download, he can't download. So this way everybody's happy. But what if I, temporarly, were to change my nick and start downloading from him ? I know it sounds a bit ...lame. Yeah, mabey it is.
I did have a good reason for adding him to the ban list or else I wouldn't cared much about asking for help at all. He was a jerk and he deserved it. Now I want to be able to download from him once more. Am I gonna go to hell for this ? :)

"In this guide I will learn you how to block specific IPs"
LOL - Shouldn't it be "teach you". Or "you will learn how to" ?
And isn't this plugin categorized by versions ? Should this be considered v1.0 ?

404 Not Found
Could YOU explain what they're there for ? What about those new ones on the Misc page ?
Were those explained somewhere in this wonderful forum ? Link me ! Pls.
Thanks. Merry Christmas !

Right... So if I was to install 0.4.0 over 0.3.0 i would keep my settings ? Including the download queue and favorite hubs/users ?
What about the GeoIP database ?

10x... Is it blocking uploads to oDC users yet ?
-
[...] and there's one small thing - it's impossible not to send search result to some type of clients, because you don't know that type during a searchI thought you might say something like that. What's wrong with blocking ?? :blushing: LOL. BLOCKING is good !
It nourishes the soul...

I like the ideea, though... But this way, people can lie about the hub count or upload slots.
Btw, I've seen users, on hubs that do not allow oDC, who reversed engineered the source code or something and modified their tags to their likeing: When I saw oDC v6.01, I was like, WTF?? =))
