The whole network has to be gigabit-capable, that means the other people network interface cards and the switch between you. I am successfully using ApexDC++ on a gigabit network and get speeds over 60 MB/s.

I guess it's this bug (you can read about a workaround in that topic). If it does not help, drop me a PM and I will unlock this thread.
-
I think I know what you are talking about and I would help you with that task B)
-
No, Lee, I am not talking about the database but about the flags (images displayed in the program) themselves B)
-
Could someone explain this? Maybe it has something to do with the GeoIP hang-up we yesterday discovered...
-
We are already discussing the lock-ups in another thread and with Crise via PM. Hopefully it gets resolved asap.

Thank you but it looks like there is a serious bug in it (see reports in the forum). Also, the country flags are old again? Why is this?
-
Is your hub running on PtokaX? Because I am encountering the very same bug in one hub I am using (can provide address via PM). Also I have the hub set to connect automatically upon ApexDC++ start. It is OK until I switch to the hub's tab - then the GUI freezes and I have to end ApexDC++ forcefully.
-
That is an error on the other side... write a PM to the user so that he can check it out. I very rarely see this behavior too but don't know what could be the cause...
-
I don't have experience with that hub hoster but... do you really think DC needs another hub? Look, it's almost without users with good share...

Are you able to upgrade tthe firmware of your router? If yes, it would replace the ISP's customized firmware with the official one from router manufacturer. This one should allow you to forward the ports you need. may be...

Create a file named dcppboot.xml in main ApexDC++ folder (where the exe files reside). Put the following into it: <Boot> <!-- ConfigPath specifies where settings, queue and other runtime data should be saved. Relative paths are relative to the DC++ executable. You may use the following variables, which are interpreted on a per-user basis: %[APPDATA] - Application data, typically c:\documents and settings\<username>\Application Data\ %[PERSONAL] - My documents All % variables from strftime with the current time: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/vclib/html/_crt_strftime.2c_.wcsftime.asp --> <ConfigPath>.\Settings\</ConfigPath> </Boot> After that, your settings will no longer be in AppData but in the Settings subfolder of ApexDC++'s main folder.

Toast, he is talking about searching where no transfers of filelists are involved.
-
I am afraid this is not technically possible (at least not in NMDC).

It does not really matter which port numbers you use as long as they are not the same for TCP or UDP. For example, set 56000 as your both TCP and UDP port, and 56001 for TLS/TCP and DHT/UDP port, then forward ports 56000 and 56001 (both of them TCP and UDP) in your router. If you are getting "Illegal port" that might be some sort of throttling based on ISP-customized firmware of your router. It's really weird anyway, never seen such an issue. Also, have you tried rebooting your router? Have you tried using the uPnP connection setting? (that should take care of the port forwarding itself).
-
which are the "ideal ports"?

Something must be wrong with your system... or maybe your university network has the number of simultaneously open connections limited...?
-
oh, glad you got it working so fast of course you are using your internal IP to connect to CommunityNet, otherwise it wouldn't work anyway, you can check it on the hub but it depends on which hubsoft it is - there might be a command "+myip" or similar.
-
I think we already had a CommunityNet user here who had the same network setup as you. I will try to help you: Select 0.0.0.0 as your listening interface. And set Passive mode in the same connection setting dialog. Now, put your CommunityNet hub into your favorite hubs and in its properties, select Direct connection (in the Connection part of the form), and put 10.1.11.252 in the textbox right to it. Connect to that hub and: you should be working in active mode in your CommunityNet hub, you should be working in passive mode outside the CommunityNet hub, such as on Internet hubs.
-
of course it doesn't if you and the users there have some internal IPs.
-
There are two options: 1. set passive mode in connection settings (but you probably don't want to do that) 2. forward your TCP and UDP (and TCP/TLS and UDP/DHT) ports on your new router to your PC. instructions at portforward.com or in the manual of your new router.

That's not ApexDC++'s fault. People who are sharing such files have infected computers with the virus which is spreading like this. The most you can do is to report such user to the admins of the particular hub.
-
Is it possible to join the same hub under two different names?
Mek replied to mindkiller's topic in Client Discussion
Of course, you can do it. Just use different addresses (they will be considered as two different hubs by Apex then). For example one with port 411 and the other without the port. Or use the IP address of the server as the first address and DNS name for the other. -
Ask the operators of that particular hub, this has nothing to do with Apex :)
-
Private hubs are calleed Private because the entry into them is for registered users only, and mostly their address is not even in the hublist. Most of these hubs specialize for some kind of content and they permit you in them if you share enough of such content.
