Virus with ApexDC

Hi guys!

I recently caught a virus which installed ApexDC and gave me a really hard time getting back control over my system. I am not completely sure wether it's purged from my system or not, and wanted to ask:

-) what possible threat could ApexDC mean to my system?

-) has anybody heard of similar attacks?

Virus name was (as found with superantispyware) "Gen-Aisle" some kind of a trojan. Killed my PC with a bluescreen and prevented booting into windows. Only safemode and several tests / removaltools could help.

ApexDC is just a regular program for exchanging files via a P2P network. It's legit and does not contain any spyware or perform unwanted activities.

But dunno if a virus author couldn't have grabbed it and altered it for his own purposes... but that's highly improbable.

Looking at the name of virus - it's a generic one, probably caught by heuristic analysis so that might be why you had a problem removing it. Is this "superantispyware" legit? Because there are many viruses that look like legit antimalware software but, in fact, are the opposite.
