apex is freezing on me

Every 1min the program freezes on me for 5secs and then its ok for another 2-3mins till it freezes again. Any idea what this could be? I checked the windows task manager an the cpu is hardly used.

Could be a number of things. CRC on your hard drive, or some items in your queue.xml would be most common. Have you tried starting apex with no download queue?

First off, what are the machine specifications, apex usage and background tasks?
