I tried peerweb. But had to give it up, because one of the hubs wouldn't allow me in with it.

you should've used emulation...

steps to do this (reguires hub to be in favourites) :

  • Right-click on the hub emulation needs to be set to and choose "Properties"
  • Now just tick the box "Emulate DC++ in this hub"

Well actually i had done that after the first attempt. it made no difference.

oh, and another thing i didn't like was when using now playing in winamp option, it advertised the fact that you were using peerweb.

Anyway i've just given it a second chance. It gives me the same problem as I had with strongdc.

I get messages from some hubs telling me that I am in public when I'm not

I'm hoping this will be ironed out in apex

you can change the winamp string....

so you use private hubs? if so don't connect to public hubs at all (when you connect to private hubs) as some times hubcounts take some time before they update (untill next $MyINFO is sent out to the other hubs)

Hello again.

I connect to about six private hubs automatically on startup.

It's very rarely, I visit public hubs

One or two hubs sees another hub or hubs as public, even though they are all private hubs.

Now i guess this problem first started around strongdc 9. It also happenned in 10.

I have tried different versions of 9 and 10. So i can't remember which versions of 9 and 10. Well I do know that i had the problem with the final version of 10.

I have tried different things., such as having less hubs open automatically on startup, and don't have any hubs open at startup at all. But eventually I get the same message. It's always from the same hubs.

Actually if i recall correctly, one time i had only one hub open, and it was seeing itself as public. :) But it was only showing as public in my tag.

Have I had this problem with other clients?

Yes, in DCpro, and perhaps others too

Right now I'm veering between sababa and LDc and I have had no problems with either.

Well except for people not being able to connect to me, or me to them, because of incompatible clients. ie,

usually too old a version of dc++. This happenens with Strong too.

But I still look forward to trying out the first version of ApexDc :)

when you connect to the hubs, what does it say in the main frame status bar...

it should say something like:

H: 0/X/X

the last two numbers can be anything, but when connecting to priv hubs the first number should always be 0, that is if the hubs dissallow public hubs (and in your case they seem to)

Hi

Well i tried peerweb again. This time i watched the status bar.

What happens is that 1 will appear in the (how do i explain this)

for a split second I can see

1/4/1 or something like that

but then it will change to 0/4/1

but what happens is that some of the hubs connect before the 1 changes to a 0.

so it sees the 1 instead of the 0

now when i use ldc,

before entering the hubs, it refreshes my file list. so the hubs don't open as quickly.

All the hubs see each other as private.

thank you

tried peerweb again today, and the public hubs message didn't come up.

i connected to same hubs as last time

the client could't figure out what country people downloading from me were from.

i closed hubs and opened them in ldc, and downloaders country was shown.

I think I'll be discontinuing sababa. i have to keep checking that the ip is correct.
