Introduction Welcome to ApexDC++, home of the new StrongDC++ modification from the creators of PeerWeb DC++. A new project was in need, we wanted backing from two major P2P websites (PeerWeb and neXTPeer) and we now have it. Furthermore, many hub networks including The Ascendent Network, and TechGeeks Online are already supporting ApexDC++. Expect ApexDC++ to be very popular - more so than PeerWeb DC++! Before we go any further, I'd like to show the team's appreciation for the amount of support we've received. Donators have allowed us to get the site off the ground, and support from hub owners and networks will increase the project's popularity fast. Development ApexDC++ will be based on the upcoming StrongDC++ RC11 release, fixing a huge amount of bugs and increasing the mod's efficiency at transferring. Due to my Beta Tester role at StrongDC++, I can tell you this version is going to rock. And so will ApexDC++. Our program will consist of the popular features found in PeerWeb DC++ before we make progress in developing true features in the client. If you enjoyed a feature in PeerWeb DC++, ensure we know about it to include it in ApexDC++. Internal betas will be provided to Donators (All donations go towards mirrors, the IPB license and new C++ coders) and Beta Testers. Currently, we are not excepting any Beta Testers (PeerWeb DC++'s Beta Testers are welcomed back to this project). However, you may check out our new competition that will grant you Beta Tester status! Or, you can help out with the hosting and forum license costs by donating (this will grant you permission to use betas). The first official version of ApexDC++ will be 1.0 Beta. This version will have new themes, graphics, features from PeerWeb DC++ and others clients, and any other features we manage to intergrate in a short space of time. However, we need to wait until Big Muscle releases StrongDC++ RC11 before we do any coding. Expect 1.0 Beta to be out soon after. Site and Forums The website is currently being developed. It will include a very smart and simplistic design, with screenshots, features, downloads, poll, updates, staff list, etc available. This website will be more advanced than PeerWeb DC++'s, due to Nas coding it. The forums will be skinned soon. Nerdcore GFX is our official Graphics creators, so please check them out! They'll start work soon with new splash screens, headers, logos, etc. Please spread the word, and go register! :)

PM him and see what his response is - that'll provide you with a more accurate answer.

And I do believe we can break it down into min guides for specific things. It'll be very useful..
-
It is, don't worry. Like I told him, it's the most stable version I've ever used in my DC++ 'experience'. And no, that's not just to get him to release it sooner. ;)

VLC (Video LAN) player as AVI Preview altenate?
Lee replied to AddictedToChaos's topic in Feature Requests
Yeah, I use it for my x264 films. ;) -
Welcome Sarevok. I'll make sure we release it on that date so you win... On a serious note, it's looking to be out this month or next month if all goes to plan.

We've already got a Guide's forum ready with numerous guides inside helping beginners. Kevo wrote a guide explaining all the current settings options and what they do. The icons are easy enough, you just hover over the icon and it'll tell you what it does. :)

Cheers for that post. Certainly made me laugh. Can't imagine somebody saying "I'll PeerWeb it" To receive 'early' builds you need to be a tester or donator. Otherwise you'll have to wait until official publica versions are released. It shouldn't be too long until we release some potential stable versions. We're currently creating the graphics to go with the program. Although the toolbar will have the default PeerWeb DC++ icons, we're going to provide an area of our site to switch to different toolbar icons. Later, we might even create a new default toolbar set for ApexDC++ if there's time.

I personally don't use the option. Why not create screenshots of the connection settings, router setup, etc and produce a 'guide' sort of thing to help users port forward. When ApexDC++ is out, it could quite possibly fix your problem (if it was a pwdc bug) because it'll be based on the newer version of StrongDC++. Thanks for promoting our original client and I hope you'll get others in the hub to convert to ApexDC++ when it's publically available. You won't be dissapointed. :)

Very much appreciated. I'll talk to you on ICQ later I presume. :P

VLC (Video LAN) player as AVI Preview altenate?
Lee replied to AddictedToChaos's topic in Feature Requests
Or just offer a guide that explains how to download VLC and set ApexDC++ to use it. -
Another security patch. Don't bother trying to hack. :)
-
The connection test is half broken, it returns a partial connection even if it works. If you can download and upload fine, don't worry about it. :)

New security issue successfully patched.

ENGLAND QUALIFY Peter Crouch and Steven Gerrard spared England's blushes with late goals against Trinidad & Tobago to book their place in the last 16 of the World Cup. Crouch, who had missed several chances, met David Beckham's right-wing cross to power a header past Shaka Hislop. Gerrard wrapped it up in stoppage time with a stunning left-foot drive after England made hard work of the contest. Wayne Rooney did come on, but it was fellow subs Stewart Downing and Aaron Lennon who turned the game for England.

It's already there? You right click on them and it brings up the control/options available to you.

Automatically create folders woth hub names when downloading

Of course it's going to need new code, what sort of question is that? :) -
Yeah, they were very enjoyable to watch.

BetaNews finally accepted our submission of PWDC++ (took over a year?): http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/PeerWeb_DC/1121168383/1 :)

Spoke to Big Muscle and it's not possible with latest code, or in fact it'll cause more memory to be used. ;)

We don't need to merge if we're going to use the source to create ApexDC++ Op.
-
StrongDC++ does it. It hides OP features when you're a regular user, but I remember us deciding on a seperate client so the size isn't dramatically increased.

Development page Tired of visiting the front page and seeing the same news? Well now you can follow development closely by visiting the newly created dev page. There you can see tasks currently on the todo list for different versions of the client from 1.0 betas to future versions. There's a new experimental build available for testers/donators to test. All tasks displayed on this page are being considered and have a high chance of making it into ApexDC++. If the feature you've requested hasn't appeared, it may do in coming weeks once development progresses. Linux users beware Now to announce something larger. We're hoping to offer three versions of ApexDC++ (this is not finalised) - regular, op and linux versions. The regular version is for regular DC users who are not operators of hubs. The OP version will include features such as hide share, etc, that non-OPs do not have the privileges to use. Finally, the linux dc++ version will (hopefully) include all the features available in the regular version. We're hoping to have more stability than Linux DC++ currently does - more on this later! In the meantime, you can visit our discussion topic for suggesting some already stable and decent OP clients. Graphics We've promised concepts of how ApexDC++ will look including it's toolbar and splash screen, but unfortunately our graphics creators haven't got enough time. Please use the links to keep track of thier progress. If you want to contribute to ApexDC++, you may check out our currently unassigned tasks.

I'd leave a broader release area for RC11 - the summer. Since BM will have free time available to him, but there's still a few things he'll want to get done in the client. You never know, both ApexDC++ and SDC++ RC11 maybe out by the end of summer.
