How to get in active mode / I have connection issues This guide explains how to correctly forward ports for ApexDC++ and resolve any connection issues experienced. ApexDC++ has two fundamental connection modes - active and passive. Only as a last resort are people to use passive mode. Active mode allows a user to connect to more users and ultimately transfer faster. From 1.2, users are required to forward a port for TLS in order to become active. If you are NOT behind a router: Select the Direct Connection radio button in ApexDC++ connection settingsAllow ApexDC++ in your software firewall (it should have prompted you when launched)Test active mode by clicking on the test connection hyper-link in the connection settings pageIf you still experience connection time-outs or unable to connect messages, you're best following the steps below. If you are behind a router: Try and mimic this screenshot: First you need to use portforward.com to look up your router's model number, which should help you forward ports for ApexDC++Specify a different port for TCP, UDP and TLS (Select a number between 1024 - 65535). If you wish, TCP and UDP can utilise the same port, but you must ensure the router forwards both TCP and UDPWhen you have forwared the ports above on the router, open up ApexDC++ and go to Settings -> Connection settings. Select "Firewall with manual port forwarding". In the port fields, enter the port number that you are forwarding on the router.Press "Get IP Address" to automatically insert your IP. Please note: If you're IP changes, you're best checking the "Auto-update IP" featureRestart ApexDC++ and you should be able to connect properly.

I have not received any notification. Can you send me a PM with your address?
-
Could you add me to your IM list so I can take a closer look at the access logs.
-
Hey DNM, I have just checked to see if you've been banned by our server firewall, but this isn't the case. Are you using a proxy to access the Internet or with Apex itself?

We are pleased to announce 1.5.4 to the public. This is a routine maintenance release that includes bug fixes and a few updates. Although there are plugins fixes, you don't need to update them directly (the previous version for 1.5.3 will work). You should be notified of the update in your client within the next few days or you can download it straight away from the link below. Download: ApexDC++ 1.5.4

What happens if you close all the hubs you're connected to? Connect to them one at a time and try to figure out what causes the freeze.
-
It was touch and go as to whether or not this affected us, but we just wanted to be sure and protect our users. All I can say is wait till we unveil 2.0, as we are pushing new code almost daily. :)

A recently disclosed security vulnerability with OpenSSL has caused us to release 1.5.3. The update stops a possible remote-exploit when loading certificates from hard disk and we advise you to upgrade immediately. We shall notify users via client soon and sorry for any inconvenience. Can you be a little more detailed: What version did you upgrade from and to Did you use the setup file to upgrade
-
How did you upgrade?
-
Sorry you lost your settings, but we are not wiping them. How are you updating? I've updated using setup/binaries for a long time without any settings wipe. There is a chance you're pointing the setup to a wrong directory that would cause you to lose all settings, or you change the way in which the settings are stored (appdata) during the setup process. This would cause your settings to be stored in a different area and would look like they have been wiped.

Considering even Microsoft don't support XP SP1, I think you should upgrade to SP3 when you next restart your computer. You're leaving yourself vulnerable on SP1.
-
Why doesn't the latest version work for you?
-
It will be in C:/Users/username/AppData/ApexDC++. AppData is a hidden folder. :)
-
Hello, Please can you repost this into the tracker.. I'm not able to move it into there as its a separate system. :)
-
Interesting... we must have missed this when it was posted. :)
-
Hello HamburgKid, Do you manage to get into the hub first, or can't you connect because you have no account? If it's the latter, you're going to have to try and speak to somebody who is inside the hub. Maybe they can get you in contact with the hub owner via email.

Automated updates are now back in action.

At peak times, apexdc.net can receive over 30,000 visitors a day and 12 requests per second. This is why we're always monitoring and looking for ways to improve our server performance. Today the site will be moved to our newly built web server running the latest technology ready to handle future releases. We have temporarily disabled any auto updates while the process is completed and I will add an update to this post as soon as my DNS updates on the new server. Update: If you see this message you're on our new server (details inside).

You don't necessarily need a bot. You could PM a user that lists all the latest new content by PM'ing it with commands. That user could watch main chat for any new content announcements and collect them via LuaPlugin.

Our new server details: CentOS 6.2 x86_64 Intel® Xeon® CPU E5520 @ 2.27GHz, 2 cores 1024MB RAM 100Mbit uplink We're testing a combination of new software - specifically APC alongside NGINX and PHP so hopefully things will continue to run smoothly. As for a bit of trivia: back in the earlier days when we received similar traffic to above, Apache just couldn't cope with it (even in a dedicated environment) and we had to outsource a few things to SourceForge. Although we do have very specific needs. We will wait a few days before activating the auto update notifications again.
-
Have you tried registering in the hubs you're trying to search in?
-
This is a combination of auto update and the result of the security vulnerability mentioned in the original announcement. Generally speaking, you have the choice to upgrade or not with a regular update. However due to the majority of our users being on a version from 1-2 years ago, we felt it was right to push this. :)

We are releasing a 1.5.2 maintenance update to fix numerous reports from our Tracker. Some of these include logging format, removing incomplete downloads from queue and some other welcome fixes. An undisclosed security vulnerability relating to the experimental KEYP extension has been fixed; as such, we strongly recommend you to upgrade as soon as possible. Our next major update - 2.0 - will see an icon face lift ready for public testing. We shall announce more details when the time comes, but in the meantime enjoy the 1.5.2 update.
