I have 64b Vista Business and everything works fine (UAC disabled, Apex is on some subfolders on D:)
-
That must be some kind of sh1tty hub. Connect to some other hub which allows downloading without registering.

I am not missing this feature, but some passive users might be missing it for a long time already When a user is in active mode, make a feature available for him - a checkbox checked by default - "Help passive users connect to each other". Passive users could be able to connect to each other using the active user to negotiate their connections - but not the full data transfer. I don't know how exactly it works and if it even is possible, but isn't this the idea of how Hamachi works? Furthermore, this feature would help spreading ApexDC dramatically. B)

Right click on the user name, you will see two options: "Get file list" and "Browse file list". The first one downloads the whole filelist ready for offline browsing. The second one downloads only the root of the filelist, and downloads more content as you request it by clicking on particular folders.

it might be possible, as currently multiple downloads/uploads from/to passive users (when you are in active mode) occur at this one port simultaneously :)

Okay, the topic title is a little confusing, let me explain my situation: On a campus I am behind a firewall with only one TCP and one UDP port forwarded (56000). I am active on internet hubs and everything works fine. However, I have a 2 GB upload limit which applies to all non-port-56000 traffic. Example: I am in active mode, as stated previously. When I am downloading from a passive user or the passive user is downloading from me - he connects to me, so all the traffic is on port 56000 - no limit is applied When I am downloading from an active user, or this active user is downloading from me - my client connects to him, src port is not 56000 - limit is applied - and, accidentally, the 2 GB limit is reached and I am disconnected from the internet completely. What I am suggesting, is a feature which could be turned on somewhere in the advanced settings. If the DC protocol allows it, make even the active users connect to me, not otherwise. If the DC protocol does not allow this behaviour, at least make the outgoing connections have src port as set in the settings of active mode - is it even possible? Hopefully this was clearly explained, if not, then ask :)

I am constantly kicking those users out of the hubs where I am op. At least that I can do (well, for now). Hope the developers will do something about it.

I think the idea of this feature already was described somewhere in this forum. But yes, I second it.
-
because shared IPs exist :)
-
of course However, it would be good for all users who accidentally copy the leading/trailing space. Not only for the n00bs, but for me and you too B)

second'd!

In the Indexing progress window, where the currently indexed file name is displayed, the ampersand character '&' is not displayed in the file name.

users who have already connected to you - downloaded from you or anything, have green tick too :)

I agree. The possibility of changing the icon color can be useful in Vista where the taskbar is gray and the icon is hardly visible.

I guess to prevent abuse...?

check if you have permissions to write into ApexDC folder and to its files. And if they are not marked Read only accidentaly. If you stored it in Program Files folder, move the whole ApexDC folder somewhere else (for example some subfolder on D: if you have one) where UAC cannot make you trouble (if you are using Vista, that is).
-
can you explain it in detail? what does it mean? does it give "file not available" when trying to download from you? or an empty filelist is downloaded from you? or...?
-
It is not silly at all. Imagine a hub doesn't let you in because it does not recognize your tag. This way, by emulating DC++, the chances that you will be connected to the hub successfully, dramatically increase.

oh, really? didn't know about that...

see this thread not fixed in 1.2.0 stable :)

"Error saving hash data: Access is denied." - Can't download?
Mek replied to shoomtastic's topic in Support
don't install apex in program files, install it somewhere else where you can have fulll access, for ex. some subfolder on D: :) -
Yes, press Ctrl-E - this forces filelist refresh and hashing of new files added to shared folders since last filelist refresh.

toto je na novu verziu, 1.2.0 stable a obsahuje aj par dalsich oprav.
