  1. ApexDC++ is slow.

If your external hard drive always has the same drive letter and all the directory structure is left intact, Apex performs no additional hashing - just checks the existence of the files and adds them to the filelist. Of course, new files, which have been not hashed yet, are found and hashed.
  2. Best Anti-Virus solution

I don't really remember since I did a full scan after the installation (which was some months ago). But I know it isn't slow. I have it mainly for residential antivirus solution.
  3. The hotkey for closing a hub (or any tab, for that matter) is Ctrl-F4.
  4. Best Anti-Virus solution

I was using Avast until my recent OS reinstall. Then I realised that the Comodo Personal Firewall I was using, now comes with antivirus software included - in a security suite called Comodo Internet Security (CIS). I was very satisfied with the firewall so I installed it and am satisfied with this integrated solution as well. So I am using Comodo now.
  5. DHT banned in hubs

Beowulf, this DHT setting isn't the only one to discourage new users. There are plenty of settings which, when misconfigured, make things not working. People then ask on main chat and you have to walk them through the settings to correct everything. This is the reason we on our campus network are suggesting a preconfigured version of Apex (with everything preset, including the language and theme). The user just has to set up his nick, add files to share and connect to the only preconfigured favorite hub. It's easy and I would recommend doing it this way as well. ;)
  6. DHT banned in hubs

I don't know if it relates but before I upgraded today, DHT was off (with UseDHT tag in DcPlusPlus.xml set to 0). However, after upgrading, DHT was back on so I had to turn it off again. Why was the xml file setting ignored?...
  7. Bug Tracker question

    Thank you for explanation.
  8. Bug Tracker question

Hello, as the old bug tracker was just a subforum, you could see if there were any unread posts inside by looking at its icon. Now, with the new tracker, the icon next to it is always blue (like if there were new posts inside) but there are no new posts; it stays that way even after clicking "Mark board as read" at the bottom of the page. Could somebody take a look at that and (if possible) fix this issue, please?
  9. russian characters

In ADC hubs, yes (they use UTF-8). On NMDC hubs, not really. Maybe if you switch your Windows local settings to Russian...
  10. OMG, people, we have a plugin for the winamp-things, why don't you point him to the right thread? Gspotten, read this thread, install the MediaPlayers Plugin - you will get a new toolbar with the controls for Winamp :whistling:
  11. Allow environment variables

I tried this: <DownloadDirectory type="string">%[APPDATA]</DownloadDirectory> and this: <TempDownloadDirectory type="string">%[PERSONAL]</TempDownloadDirectory> just to try it out. No change - couldn't download, exactly as before. Am I missing something here?
  12. If you hashed it once, no new hashing is neccessary. Just plug in your drive and mark it as shared (make sure the drive letter and paths are same as before). You are then ready without any additional hashing :whistling:
  13. Allow environment variables

Any other proposals which could help me solve my problem? Our university network is going to grow by 30% until the academic year begins, and I would like to have these issues fixed by then for new users :whistling:
  14. Partial downloads not saved

I know a command-line client "microdc2". But I don't know if it supports chunked tranfers, haven't been using it for that long.
  15. Partial downloads not saved

[C] means chunked transfer, so I would guess the file is being downloaded in one big chunk which can be saved only after finishing it all. In this case it might be the client on the other side does not support chunked transfers. If I am wrong, someone correct me please.
  16. Limits not working

Well, then the Slovak language file neds to be corrected
  17. Allow environment variables

I don't think so. I can use only %[APPDATA] or %[PERSONAL] and I need something like %[TEMP] and %[DESKTOP]. If I am mistaken, please correct me.
  18. It might be that the users have something wrong on their side. Can you also check if the old version (1.3.1 in this case) still works fine with those users?
  19. First of all, the latest version at this time is 1.3.4. Please upgrade first and let us know
  20. /csfd command

Wow, I didn't know this is there and you are right, it doesn't work. However, it's pretty unusable anyway: it would be better to search csfd for the highlighted text in chat from the right-click menu (something we suggested as a feature some time ago, probably this could be handled by plugins). So you don't even have to put your hands to the keyboard
  21. Limits not working

Minimum upload rate is 5*(slots+4) kB/s Maximum download rate is 7*(upload limit) kB/s If some of your intended values are out of range, they are corrected when you close the settings window.
  22. 1.3.4 connection detection ?

I have noticed that too. I wonder what is the speed in the connection column based on. Is it sent to the hub or just displayed in my client?
  23. Downloading Public Hub Lists.....

Contact me on ICQ/Jabber/whatever (info in my forum profile).
  24. Downloading Public Hub Lists.....

I don't use TeamViewer, just TightVNC for these purposes. Anyway, I don't know how are our timezones related It's now 22:57 here and I am going to sleep now. Maybe tomorrow...
  25. Downloading Public Hub Lists.....

Have you tried disabling bitdefender and trying it again? Also, does Apex connect to hubs/users, but just won't download the hublist and the version info?
