I wish, that the preview function in apexdc was more automated..
what i mean ?
When i install apexdc it should check for programs known for being able to play incomplete files
for example VLC player can play 90% of video files i know of (tho not realmedia) even incomplete files
also, if i install vlc or programs known for being able to do that it should add it to the preview app list.
also double clicking files in download queue should play the best (or configured default) for that file type
good idea ?

thing is that (as far as i know) apex does not touch any of the ports mentioned, but might be using the bandwith vonage requires.
you might consider traffic shaping if that works... http://www.cfos.de/speed/cfosspeed_e.htm
p.s. i still think 10.000 ports is way excessive for any application

on my 100 mb/s lan i usually get around 7-9 MB/s
but then i cant do much else on the lan while its running
(so i use netlimiter to slow stuff down)remember that lan speed is usually shown in mega bits and apex shows mega bytes

what's your setup (os, hardware and that)

im sharing content on this machine on a client on another, doesnt take hours to load, i have vista on this one and server 2k8 (beta) on the other

I find that if you click the apex icon (as if your going to load it fresh) then click NO when asked to open another version, your old version will show back up.This is a windows bug afaik. Don't happen in vista tho - not so far anyway.

Sometimes when i click a dchub:// link apexdc opens a new instance of itself and without asking..
wery annoying...

usually you can use the same commands but you just need to know what commands the hubsoft uses...
examples:

I clicked the download queue tab (was already open) and the client froze, a balloon told me apex had crashed, had to terminate with taskman...

the hub you seem to be connecting seems to be ynhub (not 100% sure) you can get a userlevel that does not check the ip sent so you wont be kicked but searching might not work...

Could someone tell me where i can find the following things in the apexdc source code...
1. The public hublists configuration (initial configuration always has a few hublists) because i want to add one and set it default.
2. I would like to add a hub to the initial favorites of the client (replacing TGO)
3. I would like to add a [Kjarni] to the Description (user can always remove that from the general tab
That's all the changes i want to make, if someone could point me to a file and line in code where those are i would be very thankful
I am not attempting to make a cheat client, only a client more friendly to Icelandic noobs :)

that was because you included it, i mean add too list already installed programs (or programs later installed (checked at startup (of apexdc)))
doing that gives users the comfort of not having to know how to add stuff in the preview gadget in apex, because it is automatic
makes sense now ?
