Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me think of what else I can check to figure out why I can't do anything other than passive mode. Problem: Can't search or connect to a user 1. Removed router and connected directly to dsl modem, changed connection settings to "direct connection." Verify ip is correct, with no entries in tcp/udp ports, still does not work 2. Uninstalled antivirus (temporarily) and turned off windows firewall, still does not work. What else could be preventing dc++ from working properly? ISP is att

The only other thing of interest I could find on the dsl modem was this. I'm wondering if I should set it to the other option? Investigating now.... PPP Location WARNING Changing these settings may interfere with your ability to connect to the Internet. (x) PPP is on the modem. This is the normal mode for this modem. The PPP session is initiated from the modem. ( )PPP is on the computer, gateway or router. This should only be used if you need to run a PPPoE client on your PC or you use another device (e.g., gateway or router) to initiate a PPPoE session. This is often referred to as "Bridged" mode.

That helped a little bit. I got down to this: Checking software firewall settings ... The easiest way to check if DC++ is blocked is to go the Help/About menu in DC++ and check if it can download the Latest Version number (bottom box of the window). A version number should appear in the box soon. If you get error message instead it means something is preventing DC++ from accessing the Internet... I am able to do this part, which makes me think it isnt a software firewall issue. I figured out that even though its not setup to be one, my dsl modem must be a router of some kind. So I changed from "direct connection" to "behind a firewall" to see what I would get (with the proper ip address). Still nothing. Logged into the router, started up DC++ (and still was not able to get any file lists from users). I immediately checked the log on the modem, and found this: Log 2009/12/07 21:21:42 EST INF | syslogd | started BusyBox v1.00-rc2 (2009.02.17-21:47+0000) 2009/12/07 21:22:09 EST WRN | kernel | logInboundBlocked:IN=ppp0 OUT= MAC= SRC=85.131.104.214 DST=99.152.118.62 LEN=60 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=52 ID=64165 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=46633 DPT=3176 WINDOW=5840 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 OPT (020405B40402080A011A06E50000000001030307) 2009/12/07 21:22:11 EST WRN | kernel | logInboundBlocked:IN=ppp0 OUT= MAC= SRC=89.122.160.91 DST=99.152.118.62 LEN=64 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=116 ID=28255 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=28115 DPT=3176 WINDOW=65535 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 OPT (02040578010303020101080A000000000000000001010402) 2009/12/07 21:22:11 EST WRN | kernel | logInboundBlocked:IN=ppp0 OUT= MAC= SRC=24.9.64.77 DST=99.152.118.62 LEN=48 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=111 ID=5686 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=63757 DPT=3176 WINDOW=65535 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 OPT (020405B401010402) 2009/12/07 21:22:12 EST WRN | kernel | logInboundBlocked:IN=ppp0 OUT= MAC= SRC=85.131.104.214 DST=99.152.118.62 LEN=60 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=52 ID=64166 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=46633 DPT=3176 WINDOW=5840 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 OPT (020405B40402080A011A09D30000000001030307) 2009/12/07 21:22:20 EST WRN | kernel | logInboundBlocked:IN=ppp0 OUT= MAC= SRC=24.9.64.77 DST=99.152.118.62 LEN=48 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=111 ID=6316 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=63757 DPT=3176 WINDOW=65535 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 OPT (020405B401010402) 2009/12/07 21:22:53 EST WRN | kernel | logInboundBlocked:IN=ppp0 OUT= MAC= SRC=89.122.160.91 DST=99.152.118.62 LEN=64 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=116 ID=30945 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=28115 DPT=3176 WINDOW=65535 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 OPT (02040578010303020101080A000000000000000001010402) If I didn't know any better, I would say it appears that my dsl modem is blocking traffic. You think this is correct?
