Looks like you people are open enough to help me out... 
I am using VPN (no hardware router) and can't get Apex connection settings right 
I tried direct connection and firewall with manual port forwarding, but search returns no results...

What particular connection I should use? 
Do I need to play around with TCP/UCP settings by adding port numbers in firewall section (I got windows xp firewall)? 
Any help / links would be highly appreciated, this thing is a way to complicated
