  1. some people like old dc

    Hi everybody, thanks to everyone who replied. this is the forum i was referring to "Why make a client that destroys DC++?" I am in a particular private hub, where the owner uses a 3.06 I doubt if he's faking. As most people in the hub use older clients, he will not allow any clients from.. well basically here is the message "[14:04] <-=Librarian=-> Dc++ ver.690 and up and strong Dc++ ver 2.0 and up are not allowed here if your found using those clients you will be banned until you roll back to an earlier client " most people in the hub use older clients. Big Muscle I was not able to connect to the hub owner mentioned above. But, more important, he was not able to connect to me M
  2. Another apexdc crash

    Thanks Big Muscle. So any chance you might tell me what "subtract list" does. Actually I was in a rather large hub when it happenned. But I'm ApexDc a rest for the moment and am using the new Strongdc. M meant to say that I'm giving ApexDc a rest for the moment.

  6. tell us who you are

    Name-Martin Age 47 Nationility -Irish Nicks-TennisGenius, Steve6,irish likes.- Tv, Radio plays, Films, music, Tennis I also write. I was in the local writers group years ago. We brought out some books. Eventually the group disbanded. I later joined another group but that isn't going too well. We only have two members at the moment. :ermm: That's someone else and me Best thing that has happenned to me on Dc-Well I've met lot's of nice people though various hubs. Worst thing that has happenned to me-Oh I've had some crash problems and partioning problems. But hey, that's life.
  7. back with Apex

    ok ignore, that, i do get the same message in Apex M ok, i take that back, it seems to have been a problem with no,ip. It hadn't updated my ip adreess, so i tried a different port, and that worked M
  8. back with Apex

    I'm back with Apex again Well that problem, I was having with the dylan hub has gone. But the reason I went back was because while using peerweb, i was getting an invalid ip message in one of the hubs. This was to do with my own ip. Recently someone told me about no.ip, and i have been using that to keep my dynamic adress updated. So my ip in settings in dc is not a number. but some hubs look for the number. Actually I'm not really sure how it works, but i got no "invalid ip message" from the same hub, when using Apex M
  9. Disable partial sharing

    Nobody asked for my opinion, so I'm giving it. I think that as long as users are sharing stuff, that should be all that is required of them. I don't believe they have to share everything they download. Well okay, if a user comes into a hub with 3 gigs of shares, and 2 months later he still has the exact same share, I'd be in interested to know why. Do I do this? No, well not unless I'm short of space I like to share and I like to download As for slow downloads, sometimes I disconnect and sometimes i don't. M
  10. congratulations

    Congratulations on getting Apex up and running. M
  11. feedback on apex

    sure, but it's a private hub bobdylan.dynip.com M
  12. feedback on apex

    Well it looks like a combination of peerweb and the new strongdc. I had to stop using it, because for some reason i couldn't get a particular hub to load completly. But once I went back to peerweb it was fine. Anyway I'll be looking forward to the next version of Apex. M
  13. peerweb dc++

    Hi Forgive me if this is not correct place for this topic I' have been using a good version of Strongdc, but decided I'd try out peerweb again I have a router and have port forwarding done if i go into settings i tick firewall with manual port forwarding i put 1610 in tcp box and 1611 in udp box there was a number/adress in the external wan ip box, but it wasn't the correct one I copied the correct one from http://www.mywanip.com/ i then clicked okay if i open settings again, the new adress is still there but if i close down and come back the old adress is there. --------------------------------------- ok i've found out what causes the problem autoupdate ipadress on startup so I've gone back to strongdc M
  14. peerweb dc++

    Well I tried out the new strongdc, but it kept crashing. Then i went back to olderr version, and that started crashing. What was working for me in new version of Strongdc was "waiting users" which I guess is the same as upload que. But anyway I'm back using Peerweb for the moment. As for my external ip problem. Someone told me about no.ip.info, and that helped, well except for hubs where i get a invalid ip message. just how question. is there a place in settings where i can decrease the amount of time between searches. If so, where? Thank you. M
  15. how nerdy are you?

    okay, did the age group thing 78% scored higher (more computer geeky), 1% scored the same, and 21% scored lower (less geeky). Compared to those in the same age group as you: 89% scored higher (more computer geeky), 0% scored the same, and 11% scored lower (less geeky). What does this mean? Your computer geekiness is: You are tech support's worst nightmare, you have no clue. awww-didn't think I was that bad M
  16. how nerdy are you?

    75% scored higher (more nerdy), and 25% scored lower (less nerdy). What does this mean? Your nerdiness is: Not nerdy, but definitely not hip. confirms my suspions M
  17. peerweb dc++

    Hi Balder, sorry I didn't respond earlier. Well as you probably know there is a new ver of strongdc out So I'm trying that out M
  18. peerweb dc++

    but then i might as well stick to strong M
  19. Hi. How are yez all. Like, I kinda keep hub members file lists. Now Was this mentioned before in another thread. But I've often had the problem of downloading something. Later on, the download stops and you can't remember what bloody (can I say Bloody-oops just did) that lovely person you are downloading from is in. So This is my request. When downloading a file a subfolder titled the name of the hub you are downloading from is automatically created, and obviously the file will go into that folder. As I was writing this, I thought, well why not just create folders in favourites with the names of your favourite hubs. I've done it, but not sure how sucessful I will be in always remembering to click "download to" M

  21. Internet slang

    I also try to avoid internet slang as much as possible. This might amuse you. Ye know like, some hubs have quizzes going. Anyway in one of these hubs, after somebody got an answer right, someone else might say "go" So i was wondering "Gawd, it's a bot. telling it to go isn't going to make it go any faster. It was only later that I discovered "go" meant good one. Hey I'm Irish, therefore I'm thick. Gotta keep those cliches goin M
