Okay I've just been reading the stop apexdc forum. Congratulations to those who kept their cool, when answering the original poster. Although I did see the word "idiot" being used, which gained a minus point in my book. But I just wanted to let people know that there are people out there who are quite clients 4.01, and older. No, i'm not one of them. Unfortunately this means I can't use Apex, because it won't connect to anything lower than 4.01. M

Hi Curse Do you have a private ot public hub? M

Sorry Big Canuck. you explained it much better. M

Hello. Okay maybe this is is already and I haven't noticed it. But presuming that it isn't, here's my request. Hmm, how do i articulate this. Okay I have a lot of downloads going. When it comes music folders, it can be time consuming having to check each folder to see if all the files have downloaded. for instance let's say I'm downloading an Oasis Album. Let's say I have 4 out of ten songs downloaded. When i look at transfers/download que I can see that there are six songs left in the que. Ok, that's fine if you haven't got too much stuff qued up. But if you have it can be rather time consuming to see which folders have been completly downloaded. So my request would be for an option where I can see at a glance what folders are complete. M

Hi. Thanks for responses. Amp, I'll try and explain a bit clearer what I'm looking for. In Dc settings, there is a "download to: option and "unfinished downloads" option. What I would like is when I am a downloading a folder, that until the folder is complete, the folder and songs go into the unfinished folder. Example. I am downloading a Dylan Album. "Blood on the Tracks" six out of ten songs are downloaded. in unfinished downloads, there is a folder "Bob dylan-Blood on the tracks, and the six completed tracks, and any tracks still downloading. When all ten tracks have downloaded. The tracks and folder move to the "Download to" folder. M

Sorry I don't understand that statement. M

I'd really like to see something like this implemented. When I'm downloading a lot of files from someone. I add them to favourites and give them an automatic free slot. Ok, sometimes I forget Of course they are only added to favs in hubs I'm downloading off them from. It would be nice if when they appear on other hubs, they were automatically added as favs in those hubs. The two obstacles (leaving aside how difficult it might be to implement) are (1) someone might have the same nick in another hub. I think sooner or later you will spot that by the difference in file shares. (2) the person might have different nicks. Well, ast least they would be favs in hubs where they had that nick.

Hi. Sorry I'm not answering any more posts on this because we are just going round in circles. M
-
"You still haven't answered what reason would one have to not upgrade." The owner of the hub told me why he didn't want to upgrade, (oh and i found another private hub that won't allow new clients either.) but he asked me not to quote him, and I'm honouring that request. 2. "A few more Apex releases and what they have will be worthless if you cannot download them." Well if i use an older client for that particular hub, that won't be a problem.

Hi, Just thought I'd take a gander and see what's going on. I thought this discussion would be dead by now, but I guess not. Okay here's the thing. I have so many private groups in my fav list that I'm using 4 different clients including Apex. No I'm not running 4 at once. For instance when i got up this morning, i changed from Strongdc to Apex. When I get back on the computer tomorrow morning, I will change from Apex to Peerweb. To those who called the hub owner stupid because he refuses to upgrade, do you not think, that is going a bit overboard. It may be a stupid attitude, but that doesn't make the person stupid. Also, whether or not a hub is worth being in, doesnt depend on what clients they have, but whether or not they provide a good portion of the type of files you are looking for. As this particular hub is the largest private hub to concentrate on audiobooks/radio shows, I think it meets that requirement. M

Thanks Crise, I wasn't sure how to do that. Eventually i found out, and yes it worked. Actually this is something new to me. M
-
Another thing i found, when trying Apex was i couldn't see tags. M
-
Well actually in a way. i was wrong. I guess most people aren't using older clients in the hubs. Well i guess older to me being 4.01 and before, or it 401 (too lazy to look) People I appreciate all the comments, If i ever get around to asking the owner why he won't ask to upgrade, I'll let you know his answer. M

at moment of counting 118 members connected to hub 301=1 306= 18 401=24 4034=4 666=1 667=2 668=21 670=1 673=1 674=26 681=1 6811=1 686=1 687=1 689=1 dcgui 0.3.7=2 odc 5.31=1 pwdc 0.41=1 (me strongdc 1.00 rc10=6 strongdc 1.00 rc9f2=1 strongdc 2.01=1 of course just because it says that in their tags, doesn't mean that's what they are using that version. M
-
Thanks Pothead, M Well his rub, his rules. M
-
Well it's because the majority of users in the hub use the older clients. He wants people to be able to connect to each other. M
-
Well it's a point of view. I don't believe the members of the hub would consider it worthless, particulary if you are into audiobooks and radioplays. As for him being a moron, i have had many conversations with him, and he never gave me that impression. M
-
I do agree with that. But this is a hub I've been in for a long time. I guess I feel a certain loyalty to it. M
-
If i right click a username, and choose copy tags, that works, but i can't see tags beside username. Well anyway since I'm not using Apex for the moment, it's moot. M
-
0.674. Thank you for correcting me. you are now officially "pickiest person in the universe" "Older clients (that uspport NMDC filelists) can't grab your XML format filelist." Which i suppose bring us back to square one M
-
Well, except I can't see tags in any hubs. I wonder if i need to click something in settings M
-
Hi Balder. Thanks for replying. Well actually i use the one at no-ip,com, which works pretty well. Well except in some hubs, i get messages telling me that the adress I've entered in connection settings (eg, something like rabbit.no.ip.info) and my actual adress are different. although this seems to have something to do with the client. I don't get the problem when I use Sababa. So i can't download, or search in those hubs. But i didn't have "Don't allow hub/UPnP to override" I wonder if this will make any difference. Well for one thing, some hubs give "unknown adress" until i connect a second time. Thanks again M
-
Hi. Well as I said I'm not actually using Apex, but I have been trying it out. I have a router and have ports forwarded. I am behind a firewall In settings/connection settings, when i click get ip adress, it puts in my internal ip adress, and not the external one. Well I just thought I'd let you know. M

Well I must say that's an interesting use of the word "stupid" I am actually using a 6.74 client. What major security issues? M
