error creating magnet registry key

9 posts in this topic

I had to do a system recovery on my computer for various reasons. so when i redownloaded apex and log into my hub right away i get this in the bottom left hand corner "error creating magnet registry key"

from there i set up all my settings the same way i had them before. and i can get file lists but then when i try to download them I get "Error saving hash data: Access Denied"

So I close the program and reopen it, all my settings are changed back to default, my hashed folder is not choosen, my connection settings is changed to default, it's like it's the first time i logged in. this happens everytime i close and repen apexDC.

And when i do put files in my shared folder, before i close it and it resets, it does not register in the hub, it shows i'm sharing 0 i the file list even though that bottom line where the error messages are showing up shows i'm sharing X amount of files and when i open my own file list i can see files i'm sharing. i refresh the file lists and all that and still nothing.

can anyone help me with the error's i'm getting (registry key and errorsaving hash) and then maybe, hopefully that fixes my shared info.

fyi in my hub you have to have a certain amount of things shared and specific files shared, updated daily. if you don't after a week or less you get blocked from downloading anything until the next month. so this is kind of important.

thank you for anyone that can help me at all. i appreciate your time!!

in cases like this it would be nice if you included things like your OS and version, but actually in this case it might not matter.

When you did a system recovery your user id has changed, you need to take ownership of the folder where apex is located, if you are on vista you need to add apex to allowed exeptions again etc.

sorry i wasn't thinking what other info you might need, i do have vista. i redownloaded apex after the system recovery and i've put it in the allowed exceptions in every place i could find, windows defender, nortons, and windows firewall. everyplace i could find that would allow program exceptions i put apex in.

i have no gotten it to show the files i already had and put into the files, they now show up as shared but i can't download anything from the hub, it stills says Error Saving Hash Data:Access Denied

I ran into the same problem as well. The downloads just 'start' but, in fact, they never do. Also, I get the error message saying 'Error saving hash data. Access is denied'. All this happened when I installed the new 1.2.0 Beta version. I've just reinstalled the stable one (1.1.0) and it all works fine again. I guess something is wrong with the new beta. Hope this helps :)

Any "access denied" errors are not likely to be application issues but installation problems (ie. wrong file/folder permissions set by os, user or possibly installer).
