  1. I could get those figures and I am pretty sure your going to get the same reply , this is not just me , we have all talked about the increase, it ain't no big thing, it just is.....It has been my experience after 7 or 8 years of hosting a hub, that very few users even worry or look at client stats, unless something fails.

  2. Ok , if that is extremely low for this weeks average...lol....then I can live with it..The reason I brought it up is that on a average the users on our hub using apex had been getting memory usage in the mid 30 range.

this is not a sharp spike, just thought it was worth bringing up, sure not a slight on the client at all, I can understand as the client gets more beef to it, the more it's going to take to run the thing, but it's still the best client as far as I am concerned....However feedback about changes are a good thing, it's how we tune up, there's no such thing as almost in tune.

  3. Not really that helpful...

Crise I know there is a bit more usage as far as up an downloads go, but it still eats a bit more than 1.3.2 and the previous build.

  4. I went from around 35mb to 40 peak memory usage to 47.05 MiB (47.45 MiB) with this latest update......May be something to take a look at.

    thanks

  5. We are delighted to announce that over the past week we managed to break the 6 million downloads mark and also see our project's 5th Anniversary. We began work on our PeerWeb DC++ project, otherwise known as PWDC++ in April 2005. This gave us experience in Direct Connect and we managed to establish a motivated team to eventually migrate to our ApexDC++ brand. By the time we registered our apexdc.net domain, we had a steady userbase following us over to the new project.

You can find more information about our history here.

Without the support from our users, this project would be nothing. Here's to another five years, 10 million downloads, and 2.0. B)

Holy cow, where the heck did these last 5 years go.....seems like it was just a couple of years ago that I ran into this cool little client called PeerWeb and just look how far we have come today....When ya have the best, why look any further !

  6. Does it do this when trying to connect to ANY hub?

If so, you might have some too agressive firewall installed (or anything else is blocking it) or maybe your ISP started throttling DC traffic.

yeah that sounds like a port issue....depending on what OS he using they need to make sure they have a tcp and a udp port open in either the router/modem and or OS firewall, that and making sure all the user name info is in the settings.......I agree with a previous comment though, most of the answers are in the user guides, sometimes it's just a matter of back tracking every step....I sure know I have had to do it countless times with users and myself during more advanced senior moments.

  7. Ok it looks like a restart took care of the problem on my side....so, what ever it is must be a creeper, after a restart and an hour n' half the stats look way better.

  8. I've modified our release announcement in order to reflect this information, hopefully it will help out the rest of the users experiencing a similar problem.

Sorry folks I have to add one more to this string.

This morning I started getting users from the hub complaining about apex using abnormal amounts of ram, one user had it sucking down 500 mb, so I checked mine, This is with nothing going out or coming in on the downloads and only one hub open.

Something ain't Kosher with that much usage I had been running about 38%, I wouldn't think to much of it, if it wasn't for the fact that were getting complaints from a lot of apex users on the hub.

    thanks

  9. For the people that don't have an old file list, it acts as if they are getting my filelist, I am just not sharing anything. So they don't get a reported error or anything, and neither do I, when it fails to load my own list.

Did you try installing another copy of Apex?.....You may want to try that is all else fails.

  11. Downloads have a pause feature, go to download queue select priority -> paused.

For uploads no pausing will be made...

Ha .....was kinda afraid of that....yeah I know we can pause the downloads, there are times when i have need of pausing the uploads also.....So I guess it's the time tried method, shut the client down and restart.

    thanks

  12. The most annoying is not the fact that we must refresh share when we plugin half of dozen of eHDDs :) The 'clever' fix of this problem is *not to hash* unchanged file twice, like eMule and other ed2k clients do. This is made via NTFS iStream,afaik...

When I have to shut down and restart a external, it is really no big deal for me to do to my share settings and just click back on the folders, they come right back up and don't need to be hashed again.

  13. guys i have downloaded the newest version of apex brill client problem i have i am running ynhub and with all my other clients it shows me the right click commands on my tabs this new version is not showing any can you help

ps keep up the cool work

I run ynhub with my apex.....you don't see User commands in the drop down list when your right click?........if you see that, thats where all your commands should be.

  14. Is it working now? With Old Indian's suggestion?

I think that was the ticket, it was certainly a step by step process though We do get a user every now and then that no matter what we try, they still can't get fully active. but most of the time it is a matter of not having all the port numbers where they should be and or a windows firewall issue.

I have found that binding the IP to the computer address helps out sometimes....funny how each set up takes a little trick that works for some and not others.

This one was fun though, Dan seems to understand his system......Hope it works well for him

  15. I've attached screenshots of the setting for the modem, router, ipconfig and Apex.

Dan, just for giggles put your 192.168.1.100 ip address in the window that says bind address and give that a try....If you haven't tried that yet, that is.

  16. Your ports must not be correctly forwarded. Would it be possible to post a picture of your router screen where your input the forwarding details?

Thats a great idea ..........it's either a port config or his ip keeps changing on him....As mine does oh so many times a day on occasion.

  17. The router is definatly assogning the ip I've assigned = checked with ipconfig.

The check button tells me only the UDP port is open.

Firewall isn't blocking the ports as I've turned them all off including the modem's and the router's. Anyhow, if I connect directly with the modem and the firewall is on Apex will work.

I'm thinking at this point Old Indian is right in saying I will need to bridge my modem so will get reading my modem manual and give that a go.

    Will report back.

    Thanks for your help guys!

Hey Dan if all those other things didn't work, here is my last grab at the straw...In that lynksys router, instead of clicking both on the ports for Apex, try setting one as TCP and the do another for UDP

This little problem is a butt kicker sometimes, we run into it a lot on our hub and I have had a few go rounds with the problem myself, most of the time it was over looking something in the settings either in Apex, or in my windows settings, the router is fairly straight forward.

Also, you may want to just keep playing with port numbers, sometimes the router just won't take certain ones.

Good Luck I'll check back Sunday night.

  18. Just tried with a lower port and binding my ip address - still no luck. I've even tried putting my IP in the DMZ which I thought opened up all the router's ports to my IP address.

Man.....something is sure enough blocking your ports then, it sounds like you windows firewall....one question, do you have your IP set to static...Your ip on the router I mean.

And here is one thing that I have to do with my modem to router connection.

I connect to the web through PPoE protocal, so I have to bridge my modem to my router, in oreder to that I have to connect direct through the modem to the pc, there is a function in my modem that sets it to bridge mode. This may be something you would want to call your ISP about. Ask them if you are connecting through PPPoE and if so how do you bridge the modem.

If this is the case no matter what you try it won't work until you do so.

You can also try this, go to network connections windows...network connections/Local connections...right click on the local connections hit properties , scroll down to tcp/ip...click it and the hit properties, and if you are not setting it to static hit obtain IP automatic and the same with DNS server, check obtain automatic.

If you are setting your machine to static then you will need to fill all the information.....once again good luck....I just have a hunch you may have to bridge that modem though.

  19. Ok I've set my IP address on my laptop to 192.168.1.102. On my router under the application and gaming section I've entered the following details:

Application ApexDC++ (also tried ApexDC - don't know if this makes a difference?)

Start port 6881 (Tried different ports)

    End port 6881

    Protocol Both

    IP address 192.168.1.102

In Apex I have the following connection settings

    bind address 0.0.0.0

    Forewall with manual port forwarding

    External WanIP 93.125.248.225

    TCP port 6881

    UDP port 6881

    TLS 0

I don't know if this will help but try a little lower port number, I use 1480 tcp & udp

the application name won't make a difference, that is for your use.

You may try binding your address to 192.168.1.102......bind address 0.0.0.0

Please note your IP may change on you every time you start and restart your PC, so you may want to make that a static address, or just check your router every time you restart.

    Good luck dude.

  20. Sorry, man, can't understand you are talking about.

I have no problems with ports, routers and modems.

It's djbellusci started the topic, not I. I just tried to help him.

And last sentences is completely unclear for me. Why I need to connect modem to router? I have 2 provider connections - one is Ethernet, other is ADSL. I have good enoght router built in modem with port forwarding, static and dynamic routing (useful for provider's LAN) and other cool options including even traffic shaper (that is my modem - http://www.acorp.ru/products/adsl/sprinter...-lan-420m/spec/ (sorry, no english version)).

And other router (stand-alone, D-Link DIR-100) is also work pretty fine maintaining connection to second provider.

ok mon, sorry it was my mistake, I thought you were talking about one connection not 2.

  21. Are you sure there is no misunderstanding in terminology and router settings?

I have 2 routers (ADSL and Ethernet) and port opening was done through "Port forwarding" settings pages in both of them. I did not even touch router's firewall settings.

The ADSL/ethernet is your modem, it can act as a router.........the modem will hand a ip address to what ever is behind it computer/router....whatever, so all you should have to so is have your ports open through the linksys.

One thing you may check though is, if you are connecting with your ISP via PPoE protocall, you may need to bridge your modem to your router....in most case's that means you need to connect direct to the modem, go into your settings and find the bridge modem function, or give your ISP a call and aske them about it if you don't know.

    good luck

  22. Thanks for your reply.

I've tried this but can't get it to work. I've opened up ports on my linksys router and used these ports in ApexDC with the manual port forwarding but it won't search or download.

Hmmm, hope this don't sound like a dumb question, but sometimes, speaking for myself I can overlook the simplest things......is the IP address in the external/wan ip correct?.....not your IP on the router, but the IP handed out by your ISP?

If you are using the new apex build, don't use the get IP link in your settings type it.

Port issues can take some work sometimes so don't get to frustrated, most of the time it is a matter of going back over every step until you find the gremlin, so hang in there.

  23. Hi,

I hope someone can help with my problem as I've spent weeks trying to resolve it. ;)

I have a Copperjet 1616 2p modem which I can connect to ApexDC using UPnP with no problems. I have connected a Linksys WRT54G2 router to the modem so that I can get a wireless connection. I have enabled UPnP on the router but am unable to connect to ApexDC through the wireless router. I have tried forwarding ports on the router but this hasn't helped.

I'm using Windows Vista with no firewalls enabled.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

Instead of using UPnP, try using firewalled with manual port settings
