We have just released the first 1.1 Beta to our subscribers and testers. This version will focus on stability and introduce our new auto update system that you guys can try out when we release a public version. This will be the first auto-update capability found in DC. We're currently looking for some dedication testers that will thoroughly test the program and provide constructive criticism towards the test builds.

The forums are now running on the new flagship version of IPB. With this new release you should see a brand new skin and further improvements to the Tracker system. We may introduce a custom skin in the near future, but our concentration is on the next 1.5 version right now.

We are currently working on merging to the recent DC++ revisions since we have fallen behind a little. Once we're at that stage, you should see some public testing before we release (to avoid any last minute hiccups).

At peak times, apexdc.net can receive over 30,000 visitors a day and 12 requests per second.

This is why we're always monitoring and looking for ways to improve our server performance. Today the site will be moved to our newly built web server running the latest technology ready to handle future releases.

We have temporarily disabled any auto updates while the process is completed and I will add an update to this post as soon as my DNS updates on the new server.

Update: If you see this message you're on our new server (details inside).

It's been a few weeks since our last update and we recently reached 7,000,000 program downloads measured through our download server (SourceForge). We have been continuing to support the current 1.3 version while making strides in our highly anticipated 2.0 update. Since the last time we posted about jobs, we have had web developers, programmers and graphics designers applying to the positions posted.

Crise, our lead developer, is working on 2.0 and will soon be joined by a second programmer. Steven (from smctainsh.com) is working on our new website ready for 2.0 and we have hired Kuraj who has already updated our logo and other graphics ready for our new site launch. Even the Linux port is being worked on...

    Stay tuned. :)

We are pleased to announce 1.5.4 to the public. This is a routine maintenance release that includes bug fixes and a few updates. Although there are plugins fixes, you don't need to update them directly (the previous version for 1.5.3 will work).

You should be notified of the update in your client within the next few days or you can download it straight away from the link below.

We have been working on a custom built Content Management System based on phpBB3 over the past few years, in our spare time. The system (known as ClickCMS) uses the phpBB3 database to display front page content and has been used for ADCPortal for the past few months, with Bulletsphere being the latest addition.

Bulletsphere.com hosts the latest demos or updates for gamers around the world, at lightning fast speeds. The site design has been in development for a few weeks, and is ready for public use. Bulletsphere provides the latest gaming news aswell as files on its front page, and is currently looking for enthusiastic gamers to help contribute.

If you're interested in future ADC development or gaming, visit the respected sites above and help support our projects. As always we're working hard to produce the next version of ApexDC++, so please be patient.
  8. udai liked a post in a topic by Lee in 1 million downloads achieved
Today our project achieved 1,000,000 downloads on SourceForge. This is a huge achievement for the management team and everybody involved within the project. We want to the thank the community for spreading the word about ApexDC++ and to those who continue to introduce new users to the program.

To celebrate this milestone, we are going to open up the development area for a week. This will allow all registered members (so register if you haven't already) on our forums to download alpha builds that will lead to Beta 5. Once we have the alpha build compiled and release package ready, we will open up the development area to members.

Happy holidays! Let's hope it snows.

It's that time again! Our second maintenance release for 1.3.x series is now available for immediate download. We have successfully merged with StrongDC++ 2.41 and fixed a load of bugs to provide a more stable program. The behaviour of auto updating a user's IP has been improved, minimising to tray works properly and a lot of crashes have been resolved. Check out our changelog for more details.

This is a highly recommended update to anybody suffering from stability issues in previous versions.

We have integrated our installers with OpenCandy, a powerful engine to recommend useful software for our users. It will provide us with the funding needed for ApexDC++ 2.0 and beyond. Please view our announcement regarding this for more information.

A new update to ApexDC++ is now available to download. This version comes with DHT enabled by default and can be switched off in settings. We believe it will enhance our users' download experience by finding more sources for files. We have a What is DHT? guide for anybody wanting to find out more information.

You can read the full release notes or download the update immediately from our download page.

Please use our new tracker to report any issues with this version.

  13. Brennawrell liked a post in a topic by Lee in Released: ApexDC++ 1.3.9 and 2.0 Update
We have pushed a small update out to fix two issues found in previous versions. First is the introduction of a 60 second time interval for sending the amount of free slots in the user list. This should help hub admins find that spare bandwidth they need to reach out to more users. The second fix is the detection of magnet links when they contain bitprints, which are commonly found in G2 magnets.

Our next major version, 2.0, is on the horizon. We have successfully compiled debug builds to run on Ubuntu, FreeBSD and will be looking to extend that to Mac OS X eventually. We will provide screenshots at some point and then open up a limited beta period for testing. We are still looking for talented icon and graphics designers so get in touch with us if you know somebody.

    Enjoy the snow!

    The benefits of the toolbar:

Search our website and community forums Launch ApexDC from the toolbar (1.4.0 and above) Stay in the loop with our RSS and Twitter feeds automatically You can uninstall the ApexDC Toolbar at any time By installing the toolbar you help fund our development costs towards 2.0 (programmers aren't cheap ) and accelerate the speed of which we can reach 2.0 final. 18. Boeolermep liked a post in a topic by Lee in Released: 1.4.2... country flags are back!
After a few of our members asked for the old user country flags back (pictured below), Mek has worked hard on updating them for us in his spare time.

We have updated the LuaPlugin to use LuaJIT (provides considerable performance increase) and our setup now downloads the latest GeoIP database before installing. The randomised chunk distribution is now optional and can be activated in the Settings - Downloads/Queue area below. We suggest you enable this if you want to spread a new file across multiple users faster (like uTorrent).

How to get in active mode / I have connection issues

This guide explains how to correctly forward ports for ApexDC++ and resolve any connection issues experienced. ApexDC++ has two fundamental connection modes - active and passive. Only as a last resort are people to use passive mode. Active mode allows a user to connect to more users and ultimately transfer faster.

From 1.2, users are required to forward a port for TLS in order to become active.

If you are NOT behind a router:
Select the Direct Connection radio button in ApexDC++ connection settings Allow ApexDC++ in your software firewall (it should have prompted you when launched) Test active mode by clicking on the test connection hyper-link in the connection settings page If you still experience connection time-outs or unable to connect messages, you're best following the steps below.
If you are behind a router:

    Try and mimic this screenshot:

First you need to use portforward.com to look up your router's model number, which should help you forward ports for ApexDC++ Specify a different port for TCP, UDP and TLS (Select a number between 1024 - 65535). If you wish, TCP and UDP can utilise the same port, but you must ensure the router forwards both TCP and UDP When you have forwared the ports above on the router, open up ApexDC++ and go to Settings -> Connection settings. Select "Firewall with manual port forwarding". In the port fields, enter the port number that you are forwarding on the router. Press "Get IP Address" to automatically insert your IP. Please note: If you're IP changes, you're best checking the "Auto-update IP" feature Restart ApexDC++ and you should be able to connect properly.

  24. cargoAttags liked a post in a topic by Lee in A small 1.5.1 update and FlexHub
We are pleased to push 1.5.1 as a minor maintenance release and announce our partnership with FlexHub to bring you a new encrypted ADCS hub hosted by TAN. Flexhub is an upcoming hubsoft that aims to please both NMDC and ADC users by allowing them to connect to the same hub. Benefits of FlexHub include easy migration from NMDC to ADC, encrypted communication and transfers, friendly hub controls and active developers. Any hub owners who are tired of using the same old and outdated hub software should give this a try.

We will be working closely with the FlexHub Dev team in order to bring new features requiring hubsoft support in 2.0. If you haven't already tried FlexHub, you can download it here (compatible with Windows and Linux).

All existing 1.5.0 users will be prompted to auto update soon. For those who are impatient, you can head over to our download page.
