Thanks for the update. I use ApexDC++ daily, it's always been my favorite client.

    Good to hear.

Let us know if you have any features you'd like to see that would improve the usability and we'll look at adding these. :)

Do I correctly understand that for installation in XP first I need to unpack exe installer to add XP binaries? If so, i was not able to unpack exe file. I tried latest versions of 7-Zip, WinRar and Universal Extractor but neither worked. The last one gave such error notice:

Signature detected: Inno Setup Setup Data (5.5.7) This is not directly supported, but i'll try to unpack it as version 5309; Version detected: 5507 (Unicode) Critical error: The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program. Unpacking failed. This version is not supported

Any advise on how to unpack exe?

If you head over to SourceForge, you'll see an XP slim binary:

Unpack this and overwrite the existing exe and pdb files in your installation directory.

With this version the way releases are packaged has also changed, we have started offering two separate installers for 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems respectively. The download page will offer one to you based on whether you are using a 32-bit or 64-bit browser. Additionally, XP compatible binaries have been removed from the installers.

In the event that you still need to run ApexDC on XP, or if you are using a very old processor these binaries are now offered, for a time, as a separate slim binary only package over on SourceForge. The future of XP compatible binaries going forward will be determined by metrics on this distribution, as well as eventually by the end of XP support from MSVC.

Popped a note in the first post to highlight this.

    Thank you :excl:

    You're welcome. :)

  4. We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of 1.6.2. This update fixes an exploit that allowed users to send malicious search requests to a hub, causing a large flood of UDP traffic to a specified IP address.

OpenCandy, the recommendation engine behind sponsored programs in the installer, has now been removed. You should no longer be offered any additional software when running the setup file. They were terrible at responding and it wasn't worth the compromise.

WIndows XP binaries have been removed from the setup files and are included as a separate download. More information can be found in the forum post.

We're looking to include some minor improvements on the next version, so stay tuned for that.

  5. It's been too long since our last version - nearly two years!

We're pleased to announce 1.6.1 has been released and is available for immediate download. In this new version, we've focused on updating libs such as OpenSSL 1.0.2h (lots of security fixes), Inno Setup, Boost and MSVC 2015 Update 2.

Furthermore, we hope to have finally fixed the connectivity issues with encrypted connections and a rare crash when removing hubs from favourites. We no longer automatically add any hubs to favourites, as this has been removed in 1.6.1.

A full list of changes are available on here.

As 1.6.0 is so old, we strongly recommend upgrading to 1.6.1 as soon as possible.

    Download: ApexDC++ 1.6.1

Update: The binary only slim package uploaded to SourceForge seems to have been corrupt, this has now been remedied. It might take some time for the new file to populate on all the mirrors, sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

These themes should be deleted, as the only thing they do is mess up your client. Changes to user list colors and download bars are irreversible and a pain in the ass to fix. I hade to delete my client config file to fix the mess.

    They're very old indeed. :)

  7. Just a quick update to notify you we have successfully transitioned to DigitalOcean and upgraded our forums to the latest instalment of IPS 4.

The server move has already proved to be a positive change in terms of performance and financial costs. We are now running PHP 5.6 and switched over from MySQL to MariaDB to follow the original developers - there's an article on this to bring you up to speed.

Although releases have become less frequent, we do plan on catching up with the latest OpenSSL and DC++ security related exploits as soon as we can. Cologic provided an insightful article on some of the changes we're looking to include, alongside that pesky NMDC exploit.

  8. Hi synapsenstau,

When you say full TLS 1.2 support, can you give examples of what you feel is missing and relevant? There are security reasons for the "castrated" cipher suite we use; in fact we actually support more ciphers than DC++ at this time, but are looking into following their lead.

    Hope this helps.

  9. We have released 1.6.0 to address some security issues regarding hub hijacking and upgraded to the latest OpenSSL 1.0.1i. The ADC-Fun.com hub domain was hijacked recently and therefore we have blocked this to prevent users connecting to this fraudulent hub. We have also changed the behaviour of the security settings page to ensure this won't happen again. Therefore, we highly recommend you upgrade to 1.6.0 as soon as possible.

Anybody experiencing connection issues on the previous versions using the adcs:// protocol should see this finally fixed in 1.6.0; thanks for your patience on this one.

    Hope everyone's having a good Summer.  B)

  10. Hi Lee,

I'm back again with filesharing and want to ask you if you can give me access to the mac version.

Btw: Even I'm not a programmer if you need support for german language version, I will help.

    Hi socialbreakz,

You still have access by >visiting here. :)

  11. We are pleased to announce immediate availability ApexDC++ 1.5.14, fixing security vulnerabilities found in the OpenSSL. The OpenSSL team had this to say about one of the vulnerabilities:

An attacker using a carefully crafted handshake can force the use of weak keying material in OpenSSL SSL/TLS clients and servers. This can be exploited by a Man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack where the attacker can decrypt and modify traffic from the attacked client and server.

Therefore we advise all users on previous versions to upgrade to 1.5.14 immediately. The installer will provide a smooth upgrade without losing any settings or your queue.

Check out our full changelog for further details.

  12. Used Apex DC after a really long time and have installed a mandatory update -- new setup version

    Getting the same error.

    OS: Win XP SP2

Please note that I am a noob - not a developer like most of the guyz here. So you need to explain me accordingly.

Do reply back regarding this problem.

    What issue are you getting?

  13. Forgot saying I always using Slim version because is on other partition and I have other folders inside like BOTs, HUB, etc.

And about my error I thing it was when Share was loaded because now work ok. First run 2mins. I never use backup. It's a bit annoying because I have to adjust every time when is new update but np :) I always like Clean fresh install... backup I never use on any softwares!

This is my ApexDC++ black because I have black windows theme and LG 23" IPS black monitor :) This is old hubsoft... but Theme is always the same. This pictures are old.

I appreciate the enthusiasm to share your setup but I can't allow you to upload screenshots of what you're downloading/sharing. Upload a clean screenshot for us all to see. Keep spreading the word. ;)

In case anyone hasn't noticed we have uploaded a new build:
